Very interesting that almost all 4x4 accessories shops have more grey BH type plugs on display than any other colour.

But, in real, practical terms, on the 50Amp plugs, I think we'll stick to:

Red - Input
Grey - Output
Blue - Solar (or Green)

Forget the rest...

Manny yes we can use that as a guide line. But the 4x4 Oke or who ever attached color to 4x4 accessory Anderson plugs did not take electrical standards in account.
Anderson plugs were not invented for the 4x4 community but for the Electrical industry. I have seen and used them in various applications on DC power.
There are some real idiots out there that will try to plug any plug into any similar looking thing. So doing electrical installations in the industry it is important to stick to electrical standards.
Anderson plugs are also popular in joining several solar panels and systems. It is critical to stick to the color code in these cases as you find yourself with different voltages before solar regulators.

Bugger the 120v purple plug is used on 120v DC charging circuits for forklifts.

Henri gray seems to be the most popular color. Trysome and Diesel Electric stock most of the other colors. For the odd color you need to special order.

I use grey BH, all my plugs are grey, Tuna has grey at the tow bar, trailer has grey at the coupler, my solar panels with built-in regulator has grey, so I plug it directly to the trailer coupler one, as MadMan says, I plug my stuff, into my stuff, I know how I have connected/wired everything. The problem could arise if someone else wants to use my trailer, chances are more lightly that they will be struck down by lightning and reincarnated than I lend out my trailer.

And yes, the Aussies call it an Anderson plug, we call it a Brad Harris plug, same thing. I have never had an issue with grey not fitting grey, I must have been lucky, I just buy from National Luna as I can walk to them from work, but when I wired my trailer to charge I bought the SnoMaster kit to make life easy.

I think the big BH plug is rated to 150amps, KurtG is correct that the small BH plug is rated to 50amps.

What Grips says makes sense, but I doubt a 144v white anything will tow my trailer

Brad harrison comes in 3 sizes 50 amp 175amp and 350 amp. Most vehicle accessories come with the 50amp type. They come in some colours. Red and Grey are not compatible which means they can not plug into each other.I also found the 50amp to be the weak link. If you use them on bad roads they tend to unplug. Their terminals also tend to corrode if it gets rain or water on. I have had to replace myne every year. Then I discovered the 175amp plug. I replaced both my bakkies and my national luna bat box with them and have not had kak since. They never unplug on corrigations and never corrode.

It is not just me. Have heard many people complain about the plugs unplugging while taveling on rough roads then the fridge runs warm or camper does not charge.

Same setup on my trailer, i bought it new and it was wired like that.
So both my cars run the grey BH plug at the rear.

According to my National Luna control box. Red is power in , Grey power out.

Okay, explain this then:

A red and a grey plug don’t plug into each other.

The plug that charges the trailer from the car is power out, the plug that is on the trailer is power in.

Which colour do I choose?
