I am simply comparing my experiences. My previous camping unit was a Off Road Trailer with one battery and a 90 W panel running a 60 l Engel. I could get away with that because I had 2x 102ah batteries in the car as back up.

One cloudy day and I had to piggy back. This was August so not much sun.

Maybe i have a fear of seeing battery indicators to close to the red LEDs

Should not be paying more than R1000 per 100W. Flexible is expensive though but they have their own purpose

After our holiday at Yellow Sands and our first long distance towing with the Okapi I think it is time for an update.

Against all advice from friends on this forum we decided to take the bad road going down to Genube.
We left the N1 after Ventersburg onto the R 708 towards Exxellsior, Hobhouse then to Zastron
The road was old with some potholes but we managed a average of 110 km/h.
This part of the country had lots off rain and all small dams was full and rivers were flowing.
Beautiful scenery all along the way.
The Nayela Okapi was towing like a dream and I must admit that sometimes I forgot the thing was hooked onto my vehicle.
Very stable and ease of towing and even if I swerved out for a pothole the van just tagged along without any sway at all.
Arriving at Zastron I decided to go further as it was still early and we stayed the night on a farm 29 Km out of Queenstown on a gravel road.
Remember it was raining and soon the van was covered in mud to Diannes dismay, she wanted me to stop at a car wash the next day to have the van cleaned. I will post some pictures later.
The next morning we woke up with the most beautiful country scenery around us had some breakfast and started the way back to Queenstown to get onto the N6. We traveled slowly and enjoyed the scenery all the way down to Yellow Sands.
We arrived at Yellow Sands about 13:00.

We came back that way but turned into a nightmare due to heavy rain, but I will get to that thanks BushWacker.
