Ok, I never said I need to run a kettle, I have gas for that. Quack, I find your post useless and off the point.
Maybe I need to investigate a 12v hair dryer? I see Outdoor Warehouse has one for R250
That would save a lot of cost of a larger inverter. As I already said, I will await the SnoMaster 12v Ice Maker as when far from civilisation it is far to pop to the petrol station to buy ice.
Cell phones I charge off 12v, we occasionally take a laptop with as working for yourself you're never really "away" I will look into what the laptop charger requires.
From what I can see it makes sense to save my $$$ and get a bigger pure sine wave (so the next camp with be with the trusty hot water bottles) but I like to have a goal so I know where I'm going.

Wave, I purchased a 12V hair dryer for my wife (who also owns a jar) in 2014.

Been used once I think, it’s just not powerful enough so she just doesn’t bother with it.

Let me try and be more helpfull, sorry I do have ADHXD or something like that, so staying on point is the last thing on my mind!

A 3000W pure sine wave will do most things you could ever expect from it as long as you keep the kettle and the hairdryers away from it! I have one powering my whole house with the exception of the stove, the kettle, hairdryers, ac and pool pump!

This is all powered by two 130Ah batteries and I’ve never had a problem.

In my vehicles I find the 3000W a tad bulky, so we normally settle on roughly 1000W

Inverters and batteries are unfortunately very costly consumables, they do not last forever, whether you buy expensive or cheaper fongkong!

While I’m focussed on being helpful, pure sine-wave is a bit of a misnomer, its just a very finely stepped wave, so essentially still a modified sine wave, albeit one that will charge fancy laptops and power motors.

A modified sine wave can vary from a square wave to something half decent.

To test this I normally cary a cheapy 750 W little drill when shopping for inverters with me, if it powers the drill it should be good for anything you throw at it!

Another test is a CFL test lamp, fluorescent lamps do not like harsh modified sine waves, unfortunately they also don’t often exceed 40W

What I’m saying is if it powers the drill and the CFL it should be good enough for camping.

the Mac chargers won't charge off a modified Sine wave invertor - they want a pure Sine wave...

I'm going tomorrow to EPS solar; he has high cycle batteries for R1200 ea and is currently running a special on a 12v 1500w pure sine wave inverter for R2500.

I'll confirm once I have bought everything as the batteries seem cheap.

Nice, I see they have solar charge controllers priced very well.
Pity their is no prices on the 100W panels.

I didn't have enough time today to get to EPS, Omar has been nice enough to offer delivery

Its not everyday you get service like that. I am a repeat customer as I've bought about 3 or 4 deep cycle batteries over the past year for various trailers, but that's still good service.
