the Mac chargers won't charge off a modified Sine wave invertor - they want a pure Sine wave...

R2500 for a 1.5kw pure sine wave inverter??? Are you sure of the price, pure sine waves are dam costly vs modified, just asking.

I heard that's pretty dangerous, for some unknown reason those generators tend to pick up sugar in their fuel tanks, something to do with the night air and some unknown force, the science is a bit over my head but it just happens apparently....

Oh but the sound of a hair dryer is acceptable?
Double standards?

Bwhahahaha, I think a gennie running for a few hours at night is much louder and more annoying than 5 mins of hair dryer

That's just because the inverter isn't Apple.
Apple devices don't interact with anything that's not Apple.
Sadly don't own an offroader. It's too flat living on a small island.

If an appliance requires/draws say 120w at 220v then is it about right to assume that because the inverter is only about 80% efficient that a larger quantum of current is drawn off the battery...
eg electric blanket 120W at 220v ie O.55 A draw
but 80 efficient so 150W at 220v ie 0.68 A draw
but off 12v battery 150W at 12v ie 12.5 A draw
so equiv to running 2 or 3 freezers ???
ceteris paribus , assuming no voltage drop etc
