I think this is my first topic on AG :)

What do you think of the new Mobi Lodge?
Are there any Mobi Lodge owners on this forum? If so, please share some feedback.
Pro’s
Easy to setup and pack away. One of the reasons I bought one
Indoor shower and toilet
Very comfy kitchen setup with washing area
Packing space
Geyser with 150L water tank
Solar panels with complete battery setup
The wedge nose means that you also get a turning circle that is unbelievable!
Luxury bedroom
Come out of the box with everything needed including hosepipe and tools, only pack chips and biltong some plakkies and shirts and of you go.
Full off-road capability with road caravan luxuries for mom.
Easy setup of awning (manual type) electric awning discontinued on Mobi
Large off-road wheels 265/65/16
Cons
High as a conventional caravan and will make it difficult to tow where trees are low
Heavy when loaded
Very wide wheel base but will be the same as the Rok
Water drainage from shower
Expensive!
One year waiting list

We were towing a normal platkar caravan for some time and decided to buy something better where we can tow on gravel roads.
At first we wanted to buy a additional off-road trailer and hired one for last year's YEF. What n mess I hated that running around the trailer, sleeping upstairs and the fridge there at the back and the door falling on my head every time I wanted a cold one. What a shitty way to camp!
All this lead to our decision to go for one caravan with all the capabilities.

What do you think of the Mobi?

You chose the wrong off-road trailer to test.

Mobi-Lodge is for posers IMHO 🤣

Yes I know.

Manny doesn’t have a Metalian. That’s my point.

The mobi lodges don't have kitchens.

And the microwave... wow.... is inside...

To heat the hot chocolate because it went cold ... because you and the missus..

In the fridge to the right, what food do you need when camping we braai :D

All caravans including the Jurgens fridge, Micro oven and food storage is inside the caravan. only a few models that have them outside.
The trailer I hired (same as Manny's) we had to pack the food in Amo boxes, so what is the actual issue.

Yes we complained about the Micro oven inside but me thinks for a full off road caravan it is for the better.

It's only the price that put most people off

Just did a trip to Bots and one person in our group had a Mobi Lodge towed by a V6 Amarok.

That lodge is enormous. Picked up lots of scratches on the smaller roads. Battled like hell in sand and mud. Was a nightmare to recover due to weight.
I think it is suitable for gravel roads but anything rougher than that is doubtful.

it did seem an impressive package for camping though.

Andreas,
I agree, driving down to our initial stay over, we had two off road caravans in front of us. One could sense the side wind and head wind must have been a serious problem. The double cab Hilux really appeared to be struggling.
At Outdoor X, all the premium builders were present, of all the caravans present the GT trailer made most sense.
Everyone was stunning in his own way, but an armgat like myself, would never pay that kind of money for something that is used less than three times in the year.
Two weeks ago we camped mine took less than 20 minutes , and I was ready to go.
Mine cost a fraction of what I saw the past weekend, yes in less than 10 months I have used it five times , and its already done nearly 10000 km,s.
