... went to the FWDC Open Day yesterday
Very good turn-out numbers-wise there
and the lowlands next to spruit
pretty much full of campers.

Was posted as 'Boot Sale Day' but only limited
nos Trading their Wares as such.
Bought these:
' Boer Makin Plan ' Traction Matts
which I may loan out to stranded Toyotas etc
(R25 per bog-hole extraction ?)

... bit bulky and not sure how much traction
in muddy clay , Black Cotton Seed stuff etc
R100 for the pair w heavy canvas bag.

Ive looked at MaxTrax types etc
but most owners say theirs are Virgin or broken
after first encounter !!!

Used similar ones on the farm. Tie a piece of rope to the one end and the other to the bumper/towbar and you don't have to walk back to fetch your recovery tracks.

Worked great in sand. Did it's job in mud but can get very slipper. You can weave a small chain through them to help with that.

PITA to pack, but definitely value for money compared to branded recovery tracks

I do at least one dune trip a year. Have done many Namib and West Coast sand trips. Never ever had to use any form of traction mat or Maxtrax.
You don`t get stuck with tyres at 0.6bar
