Recently completed Shelf Dingus for 2x High-Lid Ammo Boxes, from alu tube and connector set.

Used those dimpled industrial tiles on the deck instead of carpeting

Still a work in progress though. The narrow slot on the right will have a facia plate with off-take plugs linked to main batt and 2x 12v, 7amp batteries in carriers behind the plate.

Nicely done Paul.
I need to build the same concept but will opt for 4mm silicon wire.
Just a question why didn't you use foldable panels?

Ryno, the wire I used is from AC-DC and is the recommended wire for solar installations. I got the panels for R1k each and the bag they are stored in will be strapped to the bed for travelling. Foldable panels would have cost me a lot more.

This is the first step in making 2 stone deflectors for the van. I'm taking them to have edging stitched on.

Nice Paul.
I needed something like that during our Nam trip.
Does it close the horizontal section next to the A frame?
Cheers

At the moment it will be the 2 triangular sections like in the photo. I'm hoping that in that position they will give the required protection. I'm also going to make a padded front cover for the upper part of van above the aluminium plate covered section.

Paul.
I will suggest you think of doing the horizontal section as well. Those stones get in everywhere.
The travel blanket worked wonders on mine but the reflecticlve tape on the A frame was abrased away completely. The manufacturer name plate also came off second best.
Cheers

I asked Heinz, wrt my Mini-Met, and he also suggested horizontal material shroud from the belly of the trailer underside towards the A-Frame hitch, possibly also with (as Paul has got) upturned side-protection ‘walls’.

So true Manny. The shade netting is from an old carport at my previous house.
