Does this count?
Finally "finished" the build - went on our three week trip, from Crock Bridge KNP, Skukuza, Mayeleti,Balule, Tsendsi, Punda Maria, Ntakheni, Mapangubwe, Blouberg and Marakele.
All I can say is the roads up north in our country is beyond moeg. This little square-drop two sleeper did it with ease.
Am busy fitting the small extras that I could not get done in time for the trip - flip-up shower room and outside kitchen extension.
Did realise that anaircon is a must - it was 47 degrees everyday but two (came down to low 30s)
This one is my prototype to figure out what works, finding suitable suppliers for materials etc.
Will post more pics when home.
Version 2 build starting next month - version 3 will be our production model.
PS - anyone want to use the trailer for a trip, week-end away or such, most welcome to call me - no charge to forum members.
Specs:
3.8m in length
2.05m hight
Wheel track matches Hilux
Tare: 500Kg
GVM: 1600Kg
Double bed with memory foam topper

Definitely then have a look at the GT. I can set it up in 5 minutes alone. And you sleep in it not on top of it. Tallest vertical space too.

But the GT Camper is a Trailer with a RTT, it's just that the RTT has a hard floor.
It's not an Off Road Caravan...

I think it is fitting to throw in the La-Busha. Is it technically a trailer or a caravan? Difficult if you have to define when something is a caravan and a tent setup anymore. I would deem this to be a form of an offroad caravan. As you can completely pack it from the outside and takes very little effort to set-up.
I have requested a full quote and will post it here once received. maybe the wise man Manny can comment in which category this will fall. Trailer of Caravan? Know the website states Trailer, but with all the folding caravans these days, I believe a more clear definition must be stated when it falls in which category?

Le Busha launched at a 4x4 AG event at Iquana in Dinokeng.
They are actually a hybrid of a Trailer and Caravan.
I'll add them to the list.
Let me know the approximate base price...

Nope.
GT Camper is true off road. It has a clamshell lid which opens up and the roof becomes the floor, with fully enclosed tent, an integral part of the trailer. Not a RTT.
Full double bed inside, not on top.

My point was that it is an Off Road Trailer not an Off Road Caravan....
A bit of a Hybrid, like the Le Busha...
But I'll add it to the list since I already agreed to add the Le Busha...

Jotto, your camper is very nice and very interesting.

Thanks Manny. I am very pleased with the trailer and how easy and functional it is. Theone day we were a bit late for the next park's gate, so pushed a little - needless to say it behaved stunningly. The roads before Marken is the worst we experienced - you can even see how bad they are on google maps

Since this one is only a double bed size inside, we are looking at making the bedding area larger to accommodate a queen at least - thoughts from the forum on this? Does it matter? Julie and I found it fine, but then I am not a big oke

Setup at camp takes all of 10 seconds - open the back door to the kitchen, done. I made a 180 degree awening quick just befor the trip, man this thing worked like a charm. Setup in under a minute, folding it back up into the aluminium box, under a minute.

Maybe write a post on its own about your build. I am very interested in your build an would like to hear about the details, such as insulating materials, fabrication materials, Tarra weight, ball nose weight etc... Very smart idea.
Also add room size inside, can you sit up with ease, idea's you might want to change in the future etc...
Please keep up updated

If you're prepared to wade through it here's a nice build from the other side.
