Time for a short getaway.

Will be camping at Kunene River Lodge on the 23rd to 25th of May 2020 and doing the trail from KRL to Epupa Falls all along the river. Booked a sundowner boat trip for the evening of the 24th.

Can't wait - this will be my first camping getaway since March 2019.

Cheers

Eish, Im jealous. Have been up there the last two years and loved it. Epupa Falls is magical. That trail is more like a road now which is a pity.

I need to get out of my cabin before the fever gets me.

Properly envious of you guys.
One day hopefully we'll be allowed to do the touring and camping thing again. Also if we can afford it.

I spoke to Hillary at KRL and she said the road to Epupa falls (along the river) takes about 3 hours to do - so the road must have been upgraded somewhat as it is only 96km IIRC. I do hope with the recent rains and flooding of the river that the road does hold in some challenging obstacles - My body craves a bit of 4x4 driving.

Will post pics of the trip as soon as I return.

Decided against the trip to Epupa falls - frankly we did not have the energy to drive 6 hours the next day and it would have been unfair to the kids to keep them in a car for such a time after they have been confined to the house for almost two months.

But the trip was enjoyable and the lodge fantastic - hats off once again to Peter and Hillary for being such good hosts. The atmosphere in camp was great, our kids enjoyed the swimming pool and there was ample shade to camp under. Like an old couple, my wife and I managed to get in a lazy afternoon nap as well.

Got to see a few crocs while doing the sun downer - but those pics are on a different camera.

I see this trip becoming a regular thing...
