I read an interesting article on the Cruisers last night and actually never really gave it that much thought before.

But the 300 Cruiser seems almost certain to have a twin turbo V6 under the bonnet. That then means that the 70’s series will also have the V6 under the bonnet.

Like I said. Never actually thought about the 70 series with the same V6 under the hood.

Mike, this has been a heated debate between Grips & I for months.

The 300 & the 70 Series will probably share motors.

Grips said they'd NEVER scrap a diesel in the 70.
But rumours persist that Toyota is working on a V6 Diesel.

BUT!!! The V8 D-04D in the 70 produces 151kW & 450Nm.
The newly upgraded 2.8GD puts out 150kW & 450Nm.

Makes you think - but Grips is adamant the 2.8GD won't be fitted to the a Land Cruiser...

Toyota won’t put the 2.8 in the 70 series. They will chase away customers if they do

The V8 is going to stay in the 70 series for now. On the V8 max torque is available from 1200rpm.
