Agree. Don't like it. Reminds me too much of the new LR....

Prefer the 76 series.

Oh Bullshit! Chas

Land Rover sold it's soul to the Spice Girl class - they turned their backs on the Offroad/Outdoor/Overland/Adventure customer.

Only 4 manufacturers have remained true to the founding ethos of their ICON 4x4:

Mercedes with the G-Wagon
Although it went IFS & it is now so expensive that the Offroad/Outdoor/Overland/Adventure customer can't buy it.
They only offer ONE model that qualifies - the G300 Professional.
The rest are for Sheiks, Drug Dealers & Gay Superstars.
One model. One motor.

Jeep Wrangler Rubicon
100% true to it's founding ethos while staying relevant in a changing world.
One model. Four motors, but only two of them are offered in most markets.

Suzuki SJ/Jimny
Stayed 100% true to it's founding ethos. Still SFA.
One model. One motor.

The Land Cruiser
Toyota offer the grande Land Cruiser (LC200/300) that can do it all, but its very luxurious.
The medium Cruiser (LC120/!50/180) aka Prado - still capable, but also quiet luxurious.
The tough 70 series - SFA, hard as nails, comes in a choice of Troopy, Station Wagon, Single Cab pick up & Double Cab pick up.
Numerous models (3 LC300, 4 LC 150, 4 LC70 with a choice of 3 motors)

So ONLY Toyota offers an array of true iconic 4x4's to suit every need & every pocket.

Fortunately, Ineos will hopefully, one day, eventually, finally, launch the Grenadier which will pick up the baton cast away by Land Rover & continue it's legacy, but it's a mish mash of parts from various manufacturers & won't have the heritage of the brands above.

... actually :

Jeep Ownership chronology:

1944–1953: Willys-Overland
1953–1964: Kaiser Jeep (calling themselves "Willys Motors")
1964–1970: Kaiser Jeep
1970–1987: AMC (w/ Renault controlling production in 1986)
1987–1998: Chrysler
1998–2007: DaimlerChrysler AG
2007–2009: Chrysler LLC
2009–2013: Chrysler Group LLC - Fiat Group Automobiles
2014–2021: Fiat Chrysler Automobiles
2021–present: Stellantis

... but back to Topic ...

( Remember ...
we talking about Toyota ! ... not LR, Jeep etc !)

LC seem to have left the dusty roads after 79 Series ...
IMHO ... and ,
... as most owners/users will also tell you ...

Dit is net my opinie.

I have a friend that runs one of the main camps
in South Luangwa on the banks of the river.
He gets rained/flooded out of business several months (4?)
of the year so he maintains a house in Lusaka
some 700km away ... but that +12hrs drive away,
along the better roads ...
Towards end of the rainy season he heads back
to his Safari home and rebuilds the local roads
for his business, after the heavy rains and floods
& over the local floodplains etc

He's been a Toyota fanatic - all his life,
runs several recon J40's and several other Toyotas
but not beyond 79 series, no modern stuff...
Saw him just 2-3 months back and he was now having
a Unimog rebuilt and fitted out.

Most of todays modern, hi-tech, complex SUVs
are now built a lot closer to
the Luxury than the Utility end of the 4*4 spectrum ...

Ek sal net n 4.2 bakkie cruiser vir my koop want ek weet waar toe hulle in staat is.

Does anyone find the 300 a bit pretentiously vulgar?

The drivers of the current 200 series I have seen all have a similar look on their face: "If I really wanted I could drive this anywhere, but 99% of the time I won't"
