Seems Manny is on to something about the Navara's ride comfort. The motor journalists seem to differ on this aspect.
But I have noted from an old LW article (20Nov2017) that Nissan added newer features to the new Navara - which includes increased load carrying to just above 1ton (previoulsy 960kg).
My model predates that so I guess my Navara's rear suspension was not yet fiddled with. Which may be the reason why Car Mag has suggested the ride quality is not really an improvement compared to other vehicles in the segment.
Compare that to the road test conducted by wheels24 in Jul 2017, which states that the Navara's ride quality is more suv like than other bakkies, it makes one wonder why Nissan would decide to fiddle with the rear suspension.
Thanks for the heads-up Manny, it made for some interesting reading.

Ricoffy there’s no ways that leaf springs are going to outperform coils when it comes to ride comfort, so I’d take what those journalists say with a pinch of salt. Most of them wouldn’t be able to find their own arse with both hands.
Also consider that the vehicles they test are usually pretty new, so the coils wouldn’t have softened yet.
The Navara will also have much better rear suspension travel offroad, thus better traction.

C'mon Ryno, don't be a whuss - surely you can handle MalMan's rants by now.
I refuse to be POLITICALLY CORRECT to impress others - Deal with it

2017 Land Cruiser 200GX V8 4.5
Pro’s:
- Tows like a dream. I also own a 3.2 Ranger which tows fantasticaly well. Cruiser is just in a different class
- Lots and lots of space
- Not at all a bad 4x4. It will go most places where Fortuners and Rangers would go
- Re-sale, reliability....yawn. It’s a Toyota. Need we say more
Cons:
- Very basic. A TX Prado is better specces inside than the Cruiser. Toyota slipped up there
- Fuel consumption. It’s thirsty

So if Ryno won't do it I will!
The 3.0 Amarok It unfortunately handles like an SUV, I prefer the firmer ride of a bakkie!
This absorbing feel like you're wrapped in your duvet is not for everyone!
I picked a robot fight with an M3, as I took the lead the M3 driver was so shocked that he missed a gear! It was then that I realised I was towing a trailer!
The platzenwagen does have one quirk, it tends to warm up its gearbox when driving slowly in convoy! Something that's been proven on numerous occasions, solution leave the pack behind, get to your destination first and set up camp! Of course a few cold ones to be enjoyed while you wait for the pack animals!
One of the biggest draw backs, I've lost all my offroad skills since acquiring this vehicle, it's the "mik en druk" of "off road" vehicles. There's some moffie knoppies next to the gear-lever, but whether you press them or not, the German nanny will get you there!
The only way to get rid of the nanny is to pull one of the ABS sensors, but beware, not for the feint hearted, if high sided on a dune she will happily run through all eight gears doing 210km/h in thin air!
I did pofadder a Cruiser out of a muddle, but as no photo's were taken this of course never happened!
I find myself spending less time in my other real 4times4 lately, its just easier to drive the one that sleeps outside every night.
As mentioned already, VW has spoiled the aesthetics of the engine with a plastic cover, this can easily be remedied, a firm yank and a toss it in the garage over the Patrol and voila!
BTW, the beatle sleeps outside because it's a shlept to get her through a garage door!
It's a fallacy that German bakkies are economical, if allowed she will empty her bowel faster than the 383 stroked chevy in the real 4x4!
If you drive in convoy behind Manny like miss Daisy,it is said that you can reach inequitable distances, but alas since no photo's were taken, this also never happened!
Last; who (other than the Germans) in their right mind puts disc brakes, as big as platters, on all four corners, on a garden service vehicle, it causes severe whiplash to the gardeners, every time a situation (read taxi) arise, for this I've also found a cure, a Russian bullbar that's harder than diamond encrusted titanium!
I can go on all night and bore you guys with a very boring vehicle, it gets me to work and home! Sometimes it takes me to interesting places while at work.

Yip, a very good write up Quack. It’s sounds like a big step forward. What’s the rear suspension & brake configuration on the V6 vs the 4 cyl?
