Hi Guys,

Would you say 450 000km for a Gen3 diesel is past it's prime, and should be avoided at all costs? One came across my path, and she looks good for such an old girl. Am I being retarded or what?

What should I look out for?

PS, this will not be a daily driver.

That’s a lot of mileage for any vehicle so it all depends on the maintenance done and how the car was used and abused (or not).

It’s very difficult to comment without seeing the vehicle.

It also depends on how much you are willing to spend on it if things go wrong, naturally with a higher mileage vehicle the chances of repairs is a lot higher. The nice thing is its a "toy" so if it needs to stand while you make plans for a repair its ok, different story if it's an everyday car

I will take it. All is serviceable. I love that 4M41 engine.

Thanks for the replies.

I was very keen to take this car and "make" it my new "overlander" but unfortunately the guy from WeBuyCars never came back to me. He sent me lots of photos, I asked him about the issues as I would guess there would be some issues with an old car like this, he just never came back to me after he said he would. Don't understand sales people these days. He had a cash buyer...

Pity.

See it as a sign that the car had issues and was not suitable for the retail market. Keep looking

It's more the salesman at We Buy Cars are useless as they sell so many units on a daily basis, unfortunately this makes them lazy, if you want a vehicle you have to basically beg them to sell it to you. Great if there is something you really want, but if you're average Joe looking for a white Polo, you'll never get the deal unless you push
