I’ve been reading up on this company with great interest.
It’s a serious operation & isn’t going to be just concept cars. They are taking orders & Amazon just pumped $700m in & it looks like GM might be doing the same. They’ll be available next year.
The bakkie is particularly clever. Have a look at the video for more info.
Tesla should be worried.

Lots of attention to detail.
The price is also very low compared to Tesla.
The only thing they didn't touch on was charging. I would love to know if thses vehicles could be solar charged? We live in Africa you know

I got this off the inter webs
“To be safe, let's take the minimum to give us a conservative estimate. If one, low-end solar panel can produce approximately 1 kWh a day of AC electricity, that means you would need an astounding 75 solar panels to produce enough electricity to fuel your Tesla Model S to 100% capacity from 0% each day”

So in other words 37.5 solar panels to charge the Rivian?

This made me wonder. Why can't you put the generator in the boot, plug it in, start it and just drive around like that?

BMW did just that.
The BMW i3 comes in two models.
i3 pure electric
i3 RE (Range Extender).
The Range extender basically has a BMW G650 motorcycle motor in the boot that acts as a generator.

Diesel locos have operated in the same principal for years now. The diesel engines are used solely for generating enough power to run the torque-ier electric motors..

I guess it sort of defeats the object of an EV [emoji1787]

It's so the Bunny Huggers can feel good about not polluting the earth with exhaust gas while conveniently forgetting about the pollution from the coal powered power station supplying the electricity.
