The only way I can agree with you regarding the Isuzu is when it comes to the practicality side of it. Other that that, I fear the Isuzu wont stand a chance

I am reviving this thread because I saw a Unimog this weekend at KaapAgri in Swellendam.
We spent roughly 7 hours yesterday discussing the Iveco and the Mog
Conclusion was to sell the GX and Ratel and buy one or the other

Foward-Controls, like; Unimog, Iveco etc. these really are a good way beyond what we really on about here ...
Are they really practical, economic etc.?
Not if you just scream to Kruger for 2 or three nights and drive around there and scream back?
Then on longer trips more to overlanding etc. ? need to say that they're good when you're spending a lot more time at campsites than between them ...

In all honesty?
I think they are practical. As practical as a vehicle with a rooftop tent
Economical?
Sure. Must be. I get 6km per liter with the GX regardless if I’m towing or not
The only issue I have is where do I park it at home?

Herman Engel of Angel Offroad did a recovery with TuffStuff's Iveco Daily 4x4 - he said he could drive it all day long.
The only issue with it for frequent use is it's 2400mm high. ALL other vehicles are way under 2000mm high in standard form.
So whilst you obviously won't go through a Drive-Thru ot into underground parking with it - you will still have height related issues.
I drove in Dawid's Mog on Carnage Canyon - you hit branches no one else even knows exist...

Build a car port for it
Could this be sarcasm?
