Toyota Hilux Champ/Stallion low cost pickup

#1

Post by Mad Manny »

We've long known about an upcoming Toyota bakkie to slot in below the current Hilux.
But now it seems its nearly here.

A prototype runner, but already dropped with low profile tyres on it. Sies
It desperately needs a better front bumper.
Looks like a barge that should push ships around. Not hating, just a bad look.

Yes, Stout would have been a more appropriate name to revive

Bloody hell. That looks worse than a Mahindra Bolero.
I'm sure the masses will still buy it because of the badge.

Stout is the name to be used for the new Unibody Pick Up that will compete with the Ford Maverick etc. It will be for 1st World countries.
The low countries, like SA, will get the Champ....

About the looks. Don`t like it.
About the name. First vehicle to carry the Champ name were Austin. Thought Toyota could have come up with something better.

I think this is pure genius.

Will probably be full of poverty buttons that you can the fill out with optional extras.

Looking at the design it should be quite robust for it's intended purpose. Not to many flat exposed panels. Most of these will be driven by Sixty60 type delivery drivers. Should be able to take the bumps and nicks easier.

Toyota knew how to market the Stallion in the 90's

it's as long as the current Hilux, so it's long, it's just slightly lower and narrower.
It based on the current Hilux chassis. Doubt the back will be over 2400mm long though...
