The 1VD V8 will still be available in the 70 Series Cruiser. Times have moved on. There is really no comparison between the V8 and the old 1HD-FTE
engine. Ask the guys who have owned vehicles powered by these two engines.

The 2.8 will only be available in the 70 Series connected to an auto box. So far it seems it will only find its way into the DC 79 along side the V8.

The V8 D-4D is NOT being discontinued.
Not in the 70 series, but discontinued in the LC300. It remains to be seen when Australia will demand the 3.3 TDV6 in the 70 series, as it seems they are the largest current market for the TDV8 engine.

The V8 D-4D was never in the 300 series.
It was in the 200, but the 300 gets the V6 3.3 instead.
The V6 is just the V8 with 2 cylinders lopped off and then changed to a Hot V layout....

Well whether or not they will be based on the same underpinning is yet to be seen (I suspect they will share a lot)

It has however all been confirmed that the new Hilux and Fortuner will receive a Hybrid option with the new model in 2024. Seems almost certain that it will share this with the Tacoma. Petrol 2.4 L T24A-FTS turbo hybrid. There were rumors that they will develop the current 2.4 Diesel (2GD-FTV) to be hybrid compatable, but that remains to be seen. Quite sure now that the initial hybrid will be the 2.4 Petrol.

But 243kw & 630Nm ain't that bad....
