Yes. It could be successful.
A German (ex Merc) and British (ex solihul?) engineering team making a revived /modified/enhanced version.
They should just use a 300TDi copy engine or
... maybe bmw 2.8i ?

They (Ineos) just won a courtcase mounted by LR to stop them copying the Defender bodywork.

I think the Projekt Grenadier will be the true successor to the iconic Defender.

With Land Rover's new Defender just being the Millennial, Bi-Curios, Easily Offended, Politically Correct, Man Bun wearing Bear Grilles version of it's great tough forefather...

I just imagined you in a man bun. It suits you more than a mullet would.

Bra Manny has a nice ring to it too.

Time to revive this thread.

So we all saw the vehicle from the outside. They made some changes on the chassis which apparently was a problem on the Defender. So that is good for a start.

Will it steal sales from Land Rover? I’m sure it will.

They do have one problem. And that is service and support. People won’t buy it if those two things aren’t sorted. They could use BMW to sell the vehicle from seeing as they use a BMW motor in the vehicle anyway.

Would I consider one if they have service and support? Maybe. As an overlanding vehicle I can see myself in one. Either that or a LC.

Pricing will also be interesting. If they price it right, they will take even more sales from LR.

Now we wait for the interior to be shown

It will be in the same price range as the new Defender 90 & the new Wrangler imho.

It has solid axles - the Defender is independent.
It is basic - the Defender is high tech
It is Ladder frame - the Defender is monocoque
It is 3.0 gas or diesel - Defender has 2.0 gas or diesel & a 3.0 hybrid
So they are not actually competing...

It will be better because it is not manufactured by Land Rover

I think the Grenadier is closest to the 2.8i Defender (that was only sold in South Africa), but the Grenadier will have;
1. More power & Torque
2. Better Suspension
3. Better Ergonomics
4. Probably lighter on fuel (can't possibly be heavier)
5. More gear ratios.

But yes - you did pick the best Defender made - the one without a LR motor.

And even the 2.8 Beemer engine gave shit in the Landy, it wasn’t as reliable as in the real beemers. Just goes to show...
