If a Fortuner is the pinnacle of your 4x4 wishes, then none of us can help.
No help needed…

But wishlist: 4.8 Patrol Turbo Twin locked, neatly kitted… And a 105 Land cruiser for Overlanding…
It's all relative...

1. HJ60RG Land Cruiser
2. U1700L Unimog
3. Ineos Grenadier
1: Land Cruiser. I get this. It's like a Patrol, but for chicks...
2: Mogs: They're awesome. But I'd prefer to get places a little faster. And apparently they are a little wider than your average 2-spoor road. No issues, you make your own...
3: Grenadier. I'm actually a closet-defender fan. The original one - not the pretender. Not that I ever want to possess one, but I agree with the fanbois in that that do have soul. However, as much as the Grenadier looks pretty and seems to check all the boxes, I'm yet to be impressed with their longevity / attrition rate. Not that the original Defenders were renowned for theirs... :)
1: Ons meisies mag ook droom okay 8-)

2: Slow, big, uncomfortable and heavy on fuel. Even the more reasons why I want one
https://www.pickles.com.au/optimisedsea ... des%20Benz.)

3: Defender's are the Cheetah's rugby team of the 4x4 world so most of us are closet fans. But this Grenadier really intrigues me. I really like the way they went about designing it as well is "including" the public in the journey. Although I'm not the biggest BMW fan I do like the engine options they went with. What I really like is how you can spec it from new. Below is one I did a while ago and I selected a lot of options on it. When my ship comes in one day, I will be able to select "check out" on this build and basically drive it of the floor into an adventure. And all of that for $119,650 AUD. That is 200 & 300 Cruiser Money

Thinking of it....

I would really not mind one of these, or this specific one

But coming back down to earth again, a "realistic" dream 4x4 will look something like this. Perhaps in a few years time

OK, since we can spend a bunch of time discussing useless subjects like "Who uses their tech", what about discussing our dream vehicles?

Mine:

First Place: Merc W461 Gelandewagen with an OM606 TDi.
2nd Place: Nissan Patrol with a BMW M57 and front and rear lockers.
3rd Place: Toyota LC76 with the 1HD-FT and lockers.

I can definitely live with your list and in that order as well

I could also add a Unimog. Just because

2022 Corolla Cross (Yes. It's a Hybrid)
BushLapa Ratel nr 731

I have owned a Mog. Will I buy one again ? No. I have built some real powerful V8 4x4`s. Will I do it again ? No.

At this stage I am happy with my girly Cruisers.
Thought of buying a 200 or 300 Cruiser on a few occasions but every time I hop into the 76 V8 I know that a 200 or 300 won`t work for me. There is just something about a 70 Series Cruiser that is hard to describe. Not a vehicle for everyone - you either love it or hate it.
You will never find me without Stroh or a 4x4 :D

No need for a 1HD conversion into a 76 Cruiser. They are super expensive to buy and modify. After some serious money spend you will be on par with a stock V8 76. If you need more power from a 76 V8 a map will see you on the good side of 170kw and 500nm plus.
Also all 76 Cruiser come stock with front and rear lockers.
You will never find me without Stroh or a 4x4 :D

Hmm, I think it might still be a supercharged Nissan Patrol 4.8
Maybe not. If a Lotus 7 with a Toyota engine is too much for you to repair......... ;)
Haha! Hey!
From what I understand, the supercharged ones have been ok. Its the turbo ones that have been a little 'difficult'.
These days both super charge and turbo charge can be done more reliably than in the past.
But I still prefer the normally aspirated petrol if it is for touring only.

So dream 4x4 depends on application,
- touring only, or
- rocky rivers only?
- dunes only?
Or everything in between?

A mechanical injection turbo diesel is the best for Africa. No debate can beat that.

For my purposes, overlanding, I’m extremely happy with my Patrol. Would just like a mog to meet me in the bush every few kilometres to bring me fuel.
