Force Motors of Pune India is coming to SA.
The model we will be interested in is the Force Gurka - think if it as if Toyota in the 1990's decided to build a Jimny sized 70 series Station Wagon SWB.
They are also bringing in a bakkie (think Mahindra Bolero Maxi Truck Plus) and a few busses...

OH YES PLEASE! I'll like a Gurkha. Same wheelbase as a JK shorty.

Pity the Trax won't be available in 4x4.........

The only problem will be the price.

Currently 1,475,000 Rupees. Add 43% import duty and we're just under R500k. That's Scorpio 4x4 territory.

When you order your Ineos Grenadier over Wish...

(Actually not the ugliest thing out there 8-) )

Jimny, Thar, Gurkha - same WhatsApp group.
Obviously the Jimny is the most refined of the three...
Interestingly all 3 are working on 4 door versions.
It'll have to come in 20% - 25% below base Jimny pricing otherwise they are wasting their time....

The article mentions front and rear locking differentials. This will make it more capable than a Jimny and a Thar.
But 90hp 2.6 diesel will make it a sluggish dog

Just a pity that Suzuki lies about the Jimny fuel consumption.

Which manufacturers get the claimed fuel consumption figures right?

But 15.8km/l on a Jimny is far fetched

Jeep JK official consumption:

14.8L/100km city
11.9L/100km open road

We average 12.5 in ours in mixed driving, and this has been like that since new.
In fact, I've done sub-10L/100km on one occasion.
My wife get around 13.4 when she is in a hurry......

Eskom has better fuel consumption than that...

But not the Jimny, and let's not talk about the Toyota 1GR-FE.
