My brother goes Fong Kong

#1

Post by Ricof4e »

As the title suggests, my brother got himself a T8 JAC D/C 4x4.

Had a look at it on Saturday, and I must admit, given the price, it looks like damn good value for money.

The interior is riddled with hard plastics which will inevitably start to rattle, but you get a nice list of features as standard - cruise control, climate control, auto lights, front and rear parking sensors, reverse camera, apple/android connectivity, faux leather seats, TPMS etc.

It has a proper stance and the engine pulls well - the 6speed manual drives effortlessly apart from the low and short 1st gear. It comes out with fong Kong AT tyres but with some nice mags. Sidesteps and rear is steel. Underneath is a different story, no protection plate over the transferbox or fuel tank, but it has a split propshaft.

When I have the time, I'll take some pics and post it.

526k new with canopy and a 5 year 60k km service plan.

Not too shabby.

Any reason he didn't go for the safer option - the GWM P-Series?

Fuel consumption and the fact that the gwm dealer's dp is someone who our firm has acted against on various occasions.

The JAC Shuailing T8 & the GWM Poer/Cannon/P-Series both run of knock off 2.0 milk bottle Amarok motors, do they not?

The same brand (M&Z motors - mercedes, jag and jeep) that got behind Mahindra, also now import JAC in Namibia. GWM is imported by Nissan here. JAC all the way...

Wishing him happy miles in the JAC.

Hopefully he looks better after his vehicles than what he looked after your trailer... :D

Slightly OT but still relevant to Fong Kong: Just saw a BAIC B40 in real life on the N14. Actually looks bloody sexy, almost like the love child of an ill considered sexual join between a Hummer H3 and a Wrangler.

The BAIC B40 is basically a Wrangler, but for poor straight people...
