Years ago you could walk into Ford and they would have a vehicle in every segment.

Fast forward to 2022 and you are limited. Very limited.

Ford is concentrating on the only thing they are good at.
Building F-Series trucks.

This seems to be an international issue.

The other day I drove past the dealer who sold me my Ford, and he had about 12 used vehicles on the lot, but only two new cars - both single cab Rangers.

Guys, the days of putting stock on floors just so that maybe some punter buys it are over. Stock control between dealers is difficult, demo vehicles are a loss maker, and you also open yourself up to stock theft.

Go read up about JIT supplying.

Not at all.

It's just interesting to note that they are discontinuing a lot of their smaller vehicles.

Ford announced the reduction in small vehicle production a few years ago already.

What Ford actually said is they would start transitioning to SUV's.
So they've scrapped their sedans & hatches.
But being Ford, they forgot to launch the SUV's.

Toyota, however, has launched the Starlet, Urban Cruiser & Corolla Cross.
So the Toyota SUV line up now covers:
Starlet
Urban Cruiser
Corolla Cross
RAV
Fortuner
Prado
LC300

Not that the Starlet is really an SUV...

Starlet Suzuki developed
Urban Cruiser Suzuki developed
Corolla Cross Developed by LGTBQ
RAV Developed by mature LGTBQ
Fortuner
Prado
LC300

Not that the Starlet is really an SUV...
Nor is it a Toyota....

One would think that Ford would share VW platforms for small vehicles seeing that they share a platform for the Bakkie

In SA the Toyota Rumion, Starlet & Urban Cruiser are re-badged Suzuki's.
The Agya is a re-badged Daihatsu Ayla...

In the UK, the Suzuki A Cross is a re-badged RAV Hybrid.

In what world is the Starlet a SUV? It’s not even a CUV…

I think, but I am normally wrong..
Ford is discontinuing current small cars to replace them with either hybrid/electric cars.
But its still not clever to make your model line up smaller without replacing with new models.
Also small affordable fuel efficient cars are currently the way to go worldwide.
Ford also decided to discontinue the Bantam. The best selling small bakkie in SA. Go figure..
They are going to suffer big time.
