Having a Hybrid in our garage now for just over a month a consider myself a subject matter expert when it comes to Hybrid Vehicles.
PHEV sales is declining currently. People tend to either go Mild/Full Hybrid or full electric...
I wish I could provide more info on my wife's Camry Hybrid. Unfortunately we've only done 1'600km in it and had to fill it up once. 22 km/l mixed driving.
I tend to agree with the market that it will either be Mild/Full Hybrid or EV going forward. At least for what most of us require from our vehicles. Overlanding and range anxiety go hand-in-hand. I honestly would not mind a Hybrid Fortuner in the Garage and then an EV for 90% of the commutes that's less than 150km

EV's are perfect if you live in a place like Zurich or Frankfort.
It'll do 99% of your trips and if you have to shoot to the next town itll do that too.
If you need to travel, say, from Zurich to Vienna in an emergency, you have awesome public transport at your disposal.
But for countries that are bigger than the Free State, EV's cannot work.
Akio Toyoda has pointed out that, if every vehicle in Japan was replaced with an EV the Japanese Power Grid would struggle to cope.
So, EV's are a 1st World solution for 1st World problems.
For Africa, Australia, Asia and the Americas we need pure ICE or maybe Hybrids.
And self charging Hybrids, not Plug In...

… a number of large cities in Europe
have already banned the likes
of, otherwise revered, Defenders like mine.
Do not underestimate the acceleration
of the EV industry transition in Europe ,
now further motivated by the Russian onslaught.
Discount Mannys Old World ‘Fred Flintstone’ concepts
of the trajectory and pace of that transition.
Change is fast happening in the ‘enlightened’ world,
… even … vir die Verkrampte, Onverlig mense …

Fossil fuel energy also derived from the sun,
now Solar Power is just tapping the source directly.
