… in the days of my youth on the mines ( when we were actually building up the economies in Sthn Africa ! ) I would usually have a diesel jeep (🤬) where decline shafts enabled motorised entry for us VIP tech folk.
Instead of walking kms underground I would just nip around from site to site u/g to see drillers, drawpoints , dev ends etc … even gave odd straggling miners a lift
if it suited.
Only diesal allowed underground … mainly in case of methane pockets etc
So not too hopeful about EVs underground esp anything
with commutator brushes etc.

… on a more positive note I can disclose that I
purchased my first electric motor tool only last year
… a Makita Drill … can say that early holes drilled
in steel nearly resulted in my wrist being broken.
The Torque available from DC motors is huge
and that can & will have many benefits and not
only in Toyoya pajama outwear etc
