Manoel Manoel Manoel...
1) OME Leaf springs designed for a certain weight and purpose in mind.
2) Chuck in a heavy D4D motor, raise the suspension and voila - your leaf packs are sagging.
3) A shock absorber's purpose is to dampen the movements of the leaf pack, not to take any weight.
I stand by my original conclusion.
But let's make a bet - @Shane please do the following:
1) Send a pic of the vehicle and the leaf pack to your insurer and ask for a quote;
2) Take the vehicle for a roadworthy test.

Ja look the Old Man Emu's are (supposedly) meant to have a W shape when they work.
I too was a little concerned however there are safety factors built in for dicks like me who push the limits.. Also, the front bumper @80 kg is a thumb suck from me - if it should weigh in at 50 kg I would br just within spec....
Ironically my insurance isn't willing to cover the vehicle as it's a conversion - and [Brokers Name Removed *] wanted to quote me something ridiculous like 4k/month (iirc) 5 years ago for a 60/70k vehicle....
Will see what the roadworthy does once I've sorted all the niggles and register it with the new engine.

Dunno why some people bother with these so called "4x4 specific brokerages"...

I'm Erin
Give me a holler when you're ready. Let's see if we sort something out.
Most insurers aren't happy with conversions etc, and I can guarantee they'll all want an engineer's report on your truck, but I'm sure we can find someone to help, at less than 4k a month.

Thanks Erin. Didn't even know "engineer reports" was a thing in SA!
I know the aussies have to go through all of that when they do certain upgrades.
Will give you a shout once all is sorted.

So the other day when I filled up I saw diesel spewing from the bottom of my vehicle.
Turns out tge filler pipe had perished.
Pulled off the tub and replaced all the pipes.
I was quite chuffed as I got 9km/l - gps distance!
Now I must say that I cannot go faster than 110km/h as it starts feeling a little dodgy.
But with mud 33's I think it's bloody good!
It takes 130l to fill up both tanks - which hurts!!!
