Wessel , as I understand it a typical Toyota warranty typically covers the first 3yrs or 100000 km on (new) Toyotas
and you had 9 over 15 years so on time basis av of. ~1.6 yrs each or were you covering big kms to have that turnover on such reliable cars …
… give us perspective here
new/pre-loved
kms/yrs each
and was that optimal economics etc ?

PS Ive only owned 7 cars
over my whole working life
and have never really sold one … !
(2 stolen , none written off.)

Chas I owned this many Toyotas because I upgraded and downgraded over the years, i never owned a vehicle for more than 50000 km (yes I was stupid) however if I ever buy a 200 that will be a car I keep for long.

I do not want to buy a 200 now, I just asked to understand what their pricing will do in the coming times and if the prices of the 200s will drop any time soon.

The only time us mere mortals will be able to afford a 200 series, is if they are 10 years old and with 400k km on the odo.

In the mean time I'll just keep fiddling with 50 year old air-cooled motors.

I suspect available motorplan deals eg BMWs
promote in-warranty, servicing, trade-ins & upgrades
and may make such turnover of vehicles
viable/economic ?

I bought my TD5 at about 2/3 way through warranty
so that I'd have about 30000km cover incase there
was any underlying problem with the car.
The longer one owns a car ( including a 2nd hand one )
and ensures proper servicing and upkeep etc
ones confidence actually grows rather
than just devolving to 'old is unreliable'.
... Main reason I haven't swopped into later model
Puma etc.
If you buy new, in-warranty or even 'fairly new'
( ie expensive !) ...then one needs look after it
like a baby and not skimp on upkeep & maintenance
(pirate parts etc) esp if its to be a long-termer.

Isn’t that what Manny said further up this thread, Chas?

Dear Kurt , Manny did mention an (existing) backlog a week or two ago and, as I read it, Toyota plans were to address such backlog … but this morning , while you were still fast asleep in your cot, News Agencies in the East reported that Toyota PLANNED a 40% cut for NEXT MONTH.

So , in short Kurt , the answers NO.

Chas, it’s no secret that Manny is often referred to as “Siener De Freitas” ….. but thank you anyway for reiterating what has already been said on this thread, it’s always good to have a peer review on facts.

Just watched a news item about the subject of automotive chips and the shortage thereof. It appears that the shortage will last well into 2023.
