2022 Navara

Came across this video about the new Navara.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=boOGeJYP8Zo

The first thing I have noticed is Nissan's recent cost cutting: basically the same interior, cheap black plastics in the front and rear drum brakes etc.

However, it is a good lookin' vehicle, no doubt about it, and the payload has increased to 1,2tons. With new progressive coils (adding 25mm of height to the rear), I'll bet they have mitigated most of the handling concerns.

Fakin hell, just as I thought I would not buy a Navara again, Nissan goes and gives it a decent boob job - now I am interested again.

If you consider the 2022 Navara over the 2022 D-Max I'll drive to Northern Owamboland & beat you with your own gavel...

It’s baffling why Nissan didn’t give 4WD Action a Navara to test if they made some changes to the previous model.

On advice of the old wise one, I had a look at the top spec D-MAX:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5s-fbBOUaBU

Pros:
1) Isuzu reliability.
2) 18 inch wheels as standard.
3) The rear and front looks much better than the Navara-fok-kyk-jy;
4) The interior looks more durable and overall better quality than the Navara-fok-kyk-jy;
5) No red or yellow or orange stitching in the seats and trim like you get in the top spec Ford Ranger or Navara;
6) Ergonomics appear to be good - see cons below.

Cons:
1) A very light steering;
2) Load bin hatch is not spring loaded - I don't care but my wife may;
3) Lots of storage compartments - rattle rattle rattle;
4) No 12V power outlets in the load bin;
5) Cup holders in the load bin hatch. That's very Blue Bulls of Isuzu...
6) 6 speed auto only.

The new Navara came out in the land of Oz in 2015 already - we only saw it at the back end of 2016.

In late 2019 they upgraded the current Navara with new coils, rear disc brakes and an interface. As always, Nissan did not deem Southern Africa worthy of these upgrades.

The one in the video is the new facelift model - like I said, same vehicle, just with some bigger tits.

Lots of storage compartments is a negative?
That must rank as the World's Best Attempt @ Clutching at Straws!!! :lol:

Well you drive a Toyota, so you have learned to live with rattles.

I'll bet you that after 5000km of gravel roads, those compartments will start to rattle.

So Nissan has decided to dump the 2.3 and go instead for a new 2.5 motor - apparently not the same engine as with the YD25.

The rear suspension issue and chassis has been sorted as well with an upgrade to the multi link suspension setup (I guess progressive coils) and a new chassis.

Other than that, it is basically the same interior and Nissan's financial woes can be seen in the new Navara.

However, prices seem very reasonable!

I might just give Nissan a second look when the time comes... (Sorry De Freitas)

A future non seller...
140kW & 450Nm is pretty average.

Dear Nissan:
Sort out your parts supply
Offer the Navara with 3 body styles, not just 2.
Bring out a top of the range flagship 'Raptor' or 'Legend' version.

Then you could come 5th, or maybe even 4th on the SA bakkie sales charts.

Otherwise, be like VW or MERC & just give up.

Og Manny, look at the article. There will be a single cab workhorse and the Pro4x will be the flagship. There will be a petrol model too on the single cab.

A short video.

I find the presenters a bit boring and rehearsed, they lack spontaneity - Nissan must have poached them from Toyota.

Anyone taken it for a test drive yet?

Nissan Nambia is a bit slow, so we don't have the new model here yet.

I think it is going to be a good seller.
