Grenadier Axles
I was wondering what axles the Inneos Grenadier would be using so I did some googling. I expected Dana or Ashcroft, etc.
It turns out that they will be using a company called ‘Carraro’.
I’d never heard of them but it turns out that they make some impressive stuff, mainly for heavy duty off-road vehicles like tractors, construction vehicles, etc. They even supply well known tractor companies like John Deere.
They’ve got networks all over the place.
At least they are using application focused stuff.

Interesting . I looked the other day and saw they were 6 stud axles and presumed they’d be Dana’s

Basically, if you ignore the waffle, they decided on a ladder frame & solid axles because that's what the real Defender had.

You Grenadier lovers can thank the Lord that it does not come with Dana diff`s. When I built the Yank Ranger I were told and read that Dana`s are indestructible. I were told they can handle enormous torque. Well to date my personal experience is that it is on of the weakest diff`s out there.
Will never use them in any project vehicle again. Will go straight for Toyota 9.5 inch diff`s from a 60 or FJ 45 Cruiser. They have even thicker shafts and larger rings than the mighty Patrol diff`s.
The following from Dana have let go on the Yank Ranger. Dana 60 rear one by side shaft. Dana 44 High Pinion front. One by stripped pinion.
Side shafts two. Busted side shaft universal one.
Will never use them in any project vehicle again. Will go straight for Toyota 9.5 inch diff`s from a 60 or FJ 45 Cruiser. They have even thicker shafts and larger rings than the mighty Patrol diff`s.

I believe Land Rover purposely make their sideshafts ‘the weakest link’ of the full drive train...
This is based on the logic that if somethings
‘ has to give’ its best the sideshaft does...
and not the upstream: diff, prop-shafts, TB etc
Maybe the Granadilla folk should think on that.
