Newish Prado was on a my trip to Richtersveld.
Bumper fell off on 3rd day so maybe Henris
can refit with some monster 1” HT bolts etc ?
Guy had yanked quite a lot of carpets & stuff out back to try make space for camping stuff.
Was towing Boskriek and generally did OK
though struggled up steeper sections and
belly-scraped (IFS?) on road to Gamkat ...
Generally OK but why Prado for offroad ??
If you unrelenting Toyota zealot maybe a
Hilux or Cruiser with a few cushions.

Chas this Prado is lifted and has the necessary protection. I don’t understand why a Prado would struggle up steeper sections, was it a 3.0 or was the guy part of your over 90’s convoy?

Lessew, the guy was closer to your age than mine, but you may have a point there...
Age, guile, experience etc these would also help.

Chas has a point. Why get another prado to play with. Get a 2-door Rubicon instead. The 3.6 has plenty power and it’s super capable. Use your new Prado for family trips

I really think the 120 v6 petrol is a good all rounder and i trust toyota, i will also service it at my local Toyota service centre with which I have a 15 year relationship with.
The 150 is purely for day-to-day travel and holidays, the 120 will be for 4x4, overlanding and weekends away in the bush. My Fj was a good 4x4, from what I read the 120 is just as good just with 5 doors

Soooo, I went with option 3 and paid. Reasons why:
- Option 1 has a Service history from “frikkie”, “boeta” and “Dick’s” mechanics, option 3 has FSH toyota
- option 1 has 50km more than than option 3 on the clock
- option 3’s price was dropped to R215k
- option 3 bought from a Financial Director at Toyota. Option 1 from Nigel toyota, their sales experience was horrible with an arrogant undertone.
Thanks for the help

You need R70k for all that:
A quick look at Frontrunner:
Drawer system: R13,840 unfitted
Fridge: R10,000
Dual battery system for fridge: R10.000
Roofrack: R12,210
RTT: R20k?
That’s R65k approximately so factor in installation and you’re at around R70k
There will be more once you start
