budget tires

#1

Post by Jadranko »

i was looking for new set of tires for a while now as bridgestones were starting to fall apart after 2 years.
my idea was to get a set on black friday which turned out to be just another corporate scam.
those buy 3 get one free are ok if one needs 13 or 14 inch ( 16inch AT were not on sale or are out of stock, yeah right).
as i need 6 tires,at place that had stock i asked does that mean" i pay for 6 and get 2 free"
with answer" no sir.you will pay for 5 and get one free"
computing system is set that if i need 6 off ,it is processed as following :
3+1free and than
+2
so this morning i went to randfontein and i bought these :

R2550 per tire all included but wheel alignment. MT are bit cheaper than AT :?:
compound feels soft to touch and they are quiet on a tar. for rest, time will tell.
i hope they last 2 years which will be great for me.
few more sizes:

I think Ant had Power Trac (or was it Gripmax) on his Patrol.

Powertrac Tyres is a brand of the Shandong HAOHUA tire factory based in Weifang, Shandong, established in 2011. The original factory was established in 1991, catering primarily for the Chinese market, later expanding into a global sales operation. There are plans to establish a factory in Sri Lanka. In addition to Powertrac tyres, the factory also manufactures Aplus, Royal Black, Lanvigator and Compasal brands.

 HAOHUA
that must be Chinese slang for HO.
i went for this particular AT model as it was only one that have decent sidewall protection and shoulder of a tread
is ribbed.
every second one is shallower or you can say its missing a corner.

It's easy to offer the lowest prices when you have no stock Jake's...

Just a note on the Powertrack tyres- they are soft. I had them on the 79 for a while, but replaced them soon after as they get punctured very easily.
The mud terrain option is sort of quiet in the beginning, like most MTs, but soon turn very noisy.
Grip was ok, even in the wet.

I still have them on a spare set of cruiser rims.

tires performance through Richtersveld was great .(no punctures)
at ambient temperature between 40 and 45 degrees Celsius .
they were deflated to 1.5 bar.

also they survived one shot drive from Tatasberg (6am) to Krugersdorp (22pm) on 24th,stops only to fill up with diesel .
350l of it.
