Not sure what is wrong with the rear end, in your opinion? Is the "new" tailgate putting you off?
What got me thinking was the claim that it is front-wheel drive ......

If it was the original tailgate, I would have considered it. Nothing damages value more than a shoddy welding and fitment job to a classic.
