The Chinese in my part of the world refuse to drive any Chinese vehicles - and we have the same brands as in SA. They either drive Isuzu or Toyota - that's it. And they are prepared to pay well over market value for a second hand Suz or Toyota - all done in cash (but that speaks to a different issue). The moment I see Chinese driving Chinese vehicles in Africa, I'll CONSIDER looking at Chinese vehicles.

BAIC has quietly slipped into SA (much like Disco Nic does on a Camping trip).
They have 12 dealerships in SA (Jeep only has 24 currently).
They sell two vehicles:
D20 which basically competes with the likes of the Etios or Figo.
X25 which is in the same class as the Haval H1 or Suzuki Ignus.

But they will soon be launching this:

https://www.carmag.co.za/news/new-model ... th-africa/

It's basically a Jeep Wrangler lookalike but...
IFS
Only has rear LSD
Has a no or poor TC judging from the video I watched.
Only comes with a breathless 2.4 with 105kW (a tad low) & 217Nm (way too low)...
Rumour has it that it will retail for well under R500k,
So half the price of a new JL Wrangler.

Me thinks TATA is focussing more on their lifestyle offerings.................... Land Rover.
So the Telcoline, in essence, got a new suit
