Quoting Posts...

#1

Post by Mad Manny »

Some guys always hit the "Quote Post" button when posting.
This means their post contains a quote.

Others quote the post immediately above the post they are making - which is just plain silly.

Please, only quote a post if it is absolutely necessary.

I have been deleting the quoted post - where applicable, but I'm just going to start deleting the entire post...

There is very seldom a need to quote a previous post - in 90% of cases it's unnecessary...

If you guys spoke to one another in real life like you talk to one another on this Forum:

Thys, Kurt & HenriS meet in pub for a drink.

Kurt: "Hi HenriS, do you still have your old SA flag?"

Thys: "Kurt said HenriS, do you still have your old SA flag?
But I thought you only had the Vierkleur?"

HenriS: "Kurt said HenriS, do you still have your old SA flag?
Then Thys asked, But I thought you only had the Vierkleur?
I actually don't have either.
But I think we should be allowed to have whatever flags we like."

Kurt: "I said HenriS, do you still have your old SA flag?
Then Thys asked, But I thought you only had the Vierkleur?
Then HenriS said he actually doesn't have either.
But he thinks we should be allowed to have whatever flags we like".
"I agree with Henris."

Thys: "Kurt said HenriS, do you still have your old SA flag?

Then HenriS said he actually doesn't have either.
But he thinks we should be allowed to have whatever flags we like".
"Kurt agreed with Henris."
"I also agree freedom of speech is important"...

That is how you guys talk on this Forum - it's just not normal...

Of course Chas would then arrive, late, because he is old, drives a Landy & gets lost often & he would add...

....i missed the whole
vierkleur (or perchance vuurkeur) discussion...
...colonialism... eeny meeny...
or was it imperialist etc.
?knows...

Then Craig Hunter 4x2 would arrive & say...

How much are the beers?
Place down the road has a Castle Lite special.
Buy 4 pay for 3... but they are warm.
Let's go there rather...

And yet if you want to reply to a specific post you need to quote it?

That way the poster is notified and the conversation continues.

Or am I missing something here?

It is sometimes necessary to quote a post - yes.
Then you should quote the post.
But if it is not necessary - then don't do it...
