4x4 venues etc.

#1

Post by Shane »

I've browsed through the forum and not found anything - so don't shoot me if I missed it please!

Would it be a good idea if we had a section that listed all the different 4x4 venues according to province?

Name, contact details and maybe a brief description by the person posting the venue?

Or even a full blown report if it pleases the poster.

Now I'm not well travelled myself so wouldn't have much to offer in this instance.

The one or two trails I've done won't go far and I'm not in the habit of taking photos.

But it would be a nice added function on the forum that "out of province" members might use if they are looking to do some trails/camping.

Who knows, it might spark some interest in dome of the less known venues and lead to a club activity or two....

What do you think?

... I think ' Camping : 'Sites & Venues'
should come close to what you are after ...
but , arguably , we should also have a
specific '4*4 Trails ' thread as well ...
We certainly need more categorization
than a few very broad sectors 'Technical' etc
...so I agree.
(... somewhere I posted a list ... 🤔 ... ? )

Chas it has a lot and your list is in line with my thoughts.

What would make it more user friendly would be if they were listed according to province and then maybe camping, 4x4 trail or both.

Given the feedback from this weekends trip - might be nice if a brief discussion on trail, vehicle requirements etc were included.

Of course one can go and google all of this info if you're planning on doing a province, but a lot of relevant info might be missed.

For instance, I'm always happy to do some trails with the Troopy, but it's not suitable for all trails!

Just thinking this could be an informative function that could generate some good, 4x4 related activity on the forum.

Shane, you are welcome to start the Threads & start the organisation & listing & catergorisation & ratings etc.
It would be great.

The Vry Staat is very flat Shane. Can't be more than 8 trails there?

If that many!

But I have an idea. Seeing as there aren't many, I'll test the concept and then if others find the idea useful they might contribute towards their own provinces.

Ideally reports will be made by members here who have actually done the trails - thereby providing info that venues don't always have on their websites.

My truck will be down for the next month or two.

Gives my time to "apply my mind"....

I'll do the review on that decriped shithole Koranna Getaway and the unethical people who run the place...

I am tongue in cheek obviously, thinking you could get through them quickly.

But I like the concept. Great one Shane

Thanks Manny. Seems there might be one or two lesser known trails as well.

Waiting for contact details.

Chas the Free state is rough!

Here men are still men and our women double breasted!

We don't know anything about being metrosexual and things like that.
