4x4 Action Group

... come Sept Im off on a 5wk trip
to Richtersveld and Kalagadi.
3 Vehicles, 6 people.

Doing the 2 legs of the EcoTrail ,
some wandering around in the park itself
then along Orange and up past Fish River Canyon
and on to MataMata
(not too sure will get to do ‘Road to Hell’ etc)

ie current thinking on route is:

Jbg -Kakamas-Augrabies- Pella-Vioolsdrif-(then clock-wise circuit round Richterveld)-Helskloof(E)-
Eksteenfontein -Helskloof (W)- then around inside park-from Sedelingsdrif -E along N Orange Bank -till left turn and N to Ais Ais-Hobas-Keetmanshoop-Quiver Tree Forest-MataMata-Kalagadi SW-TweeRivieran-Kalagadi SE-Jbg .

So would be interested in reccommendations
& comment on routing, ‘must-sees’, ‘must-takes’
tech advice eg tyres etc etc esp from those who've
wandered around these parts before etc

This sounds like an awesome trip - remember without pictures (LOTS of them) it never happened.

... yes but is can to take some planning ...
there are only three Orange river crossing pts
E beyond Kakamas/Augrabies area
Vioolsdrif, Sendelingsdrif and Alex Bay
and the only two entrances to the park itself are on the Eastern side ie HelsKloof and Sendelingsdrif
so this all constrains the routing ..
also two of us are towing trailers
and the one is a Glider ...
but w lifted clearance and 15” wheels ...
Roads can take toll on tyres ...
Fuel is not always avail everywhere and can be pricey
etc etc
... hence looking for advice and trying to foresee problem areas etc etc ...
