I've stopped doing the full reviews, but I will post interesting snippets from time to time.

Leisure Wheels April 2020
Troller on the Cover

Danie Botha, the diminutive Doyen of Leisure wheels, has left.
He was there since the start 20 years ago.
No mention of where he is going.

Voetspore Article is called '30 years of Alucab' so it's essentially ad advertorial.

Nice article on our Dakar Biker Chick - Taye Perry - it's an interview.
Dakar cost her R1.8bar, sponsors only covers 1/3rd of that.

PeeJoe is launching a Bakkie, it's based on the Changan Kaicheng F70.
It will be as successful as the Fullback, but not as good...

Isuzu D-Max launched a 5 speed auto option on many of its KB250 D-Teq offerings.
Not on the Single Cab though.
The 3.0's auto is 6 speed though.

New Sorrento - follows that square boxy styling VW is using.

GWM bought GM's massive Rayong plant as GM slowly declines in Trumpist winning!

Troller - basically, a Brazillian, Rogerio Farias, made a fiberglass kit car in 1995.
He got back from a rich guy called Mario Araripe'.
Eventually Ford bought in & now the Troller is an basically an SFA version of a shortened Ranger 3.2.
Very nice. Very capable. NOT coming here.

Bronco - article. Bronco & Bronco Sport. NEITHER are coming to SA.
It evolved & was eventually based on the Ranger 3.0TDCi

Renault Triber
- it's basically a Kwid SUV 7 seater - they say it isn't. It is.

Test of the Range Rover Sport PHEV - It's aHybrid. They say it can go Off Road. It can't.
It has 245/45/22's and no spare (because of the battery pack).

Opposite Lock is now partnering with LASport. They say Partnering. They mean OL took over LAS.

In their Garage is a Duster - it gave trouble (cu out with an ESC fault light came on & it cut out - in traffic).
The dealership was useless. They no longer trust it. They shouldn't - it's French.

Article on Batteries & Heat & how they try keep them cool.

I've stopped doing the full reviews, but I will post interesting snippets from time to time.

CAR Magazine April 2020
Crap light blue & white cover with red outlines of 3 cars - looks unappealing.

Troller - precis of the article in Leisure Wheels.

Mazda is 100 years old.
In 1920 Toyo Cork Co. of Hiroshima switched to motors.
Built their firs car in 1931.
14 years later the Yankee Imperialists dropped an Atomic bomb on the factory.
2020 Mazda launches it's first EV, the MX-30, but it's actually a Hybrid, because it's linked to a...
... Wankle Rotary motor that acts as a RE...
Interesting!

In 1998 the Merc W220 S-Class was the FIRST car ever to offer Keyless Entry & Keyless Start.

A very nice article on 3 Icons: Post war Willy's Jeep, Early Series Landy & a 1976 FJ40.

They do a comparative test of a Merc A200 Sedan vs a Merc CLA 200 - you have to see this! - it's the same fooking vehicle.
The one was black the other white because if they were the same colour you'd not tell the difference...

That's all of interest...

Very pleased for Mazda - got a soft spot for their brand. Was my first car i bought and loved it. The missus drives a CX5 now and it’s a great car.
Their biggest mistake was getting into bed with Ford who shagged them up the back side.
Let’s hope the marriage with Isuzu will be more romantic...

Mike, as far as I know the Isuzu/Mazda tie up is only wrt the bakkie.
The next BT-50 will be wholly built by Isuzu.

I know Toyota has a relationship with Mazda as they are very interested in the Sky-Activ technologies.

I too have a soft spot for Mazda. My dad owned a Mazda Magnum back in the day and I adored that bakkie.

With Isuzu partnering up with Mazda, I may have a look at it in future.

Leisure Wheels May/June 2020
Due to the Corona Panicdemic, May & June Mags were combined into one - rip-off
New Defender on the Cover

New Ed Reuben, writes the forward - little of note - but he did take up as Corona hit, so I'll give him a break..

Voetspore Article on theKalahari.

Kingsley Holgate covers when they did Die Hel...and other passes.

South Africa's cheapest car is an SUV - the new Suzuki S-Presso

The 190kW Amarok is on it's way - a swansong model...

VW again says it is launching an electric Kombi - I first heard about this many years ago.

Bilstein has a lift kit for the new Jimny - R22 600.00

Dunlop launches a new 4x4 SUV tyre - Dunlop Grandtrek AT - comes in 47 sizes, you can get a100 000km warranty with it.

From Page 24 to page 37 they cover the international launch of the new IFS Defender that was held in Namibia. I've read & seen other reports by other journo's & Youtubers & they all seem impressed.

Raptor Rally to Read article - didn't read it.

Isuzu MU-X does Baviaanskloof...

Test - Lambo Urus - Pointless.

Test - Mahindra Pik Up Auto

Camping - Arbeidsloon near Mossel bay - looks nice.

Johan Marais on Snakes - lots of critical info.

King of the Hammers gets a few pages.

That's about it.

If you are interested in the new Defender - get a copy.

CAR Magazine May/June 2020
Due to the Corona Panicdemic, May & June Mags were combined into one

New IFS Defender on the cover

Wierd BMW i4 - Electric rubbish
In fact, I'll ignore all the EV/Hybrid nonsense...

First production vehicle with Cruise Control - 1958 Chrysler Imperial

New Defender - 6 pages of it.

They compare the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk to the Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio
Jeep gets3 star, Alfa gets 4...

They test the new Corolla Quest 1.8 - it beats the competition.

They test the Urus - R3.5million

Test of the Renault Triber 1.0 - rather buy a Suzuki Ertiga.

That's all I found of interest...

The Ramsay Media Magazines like CAR Mag or Leisure Wheels (& many others) have a Digital Edition.
This Digital Edition was distributed on Ramsay's behalf by 'Mags @ Home'.
'Mags @ home' went belly up.
So there will be no June 2020 Digital edition.
They are working on a new distributor.

Thanks Mike - as a subscriber I get the Digital edition for free, however I generally read the paper issue.
I find reading the digital issue is like reading a book through a key hole...

Leisure Wheels has become a victim of the Corona Virus - well a victim of the RESPONSE to the virus - the virus itself causes very little harm - statistically.

Leisure Wheels will no longer be published,
They will however still produce the Digital version.

I did report previously that Mags@Home who produced the Digizines for Ramsay (the publishers of CAR, LW, Getaway etc) had collapsed.
Arena has taken over the distribution.

Ive asked them to convert my LW to Getaway.

I don't like Digital versions - it's like reading a book through a keyhole.

So my review below of LW will be my last...
