Under this fred I will post Sane Henri's Every 2 Month's Magazine:

I decide to review “go! Drive & Camp” magazine as I enjoy the diversity of subjects within the 4x4 and camping environments that are covered.

History:
go! Magazine has been around a long time.
go! Gravel Travel was a spin off and so was Go! Camp.
Just before lockdown the publishers merged the two mags, as they believed 4 mags per month (two of each in both English & Afrikaans) was too much.
During lockdown the mag was missing for a while then reappeared, but now every second month.
Interesting that the competition has disappeared as hard copies (SA 4x4 and SA Caravan and Camp).

On the cover: RICHTERSVELD!
Picture of a Fortuner in Richtersveld.
Picture of an LC 200 towing a Mobilodge.

First article on page 3 is the Editor’s Letter note on Covid, and the effects of the lockdown. He also mentions the new Resort Guide for 2021.
Index, and the Inbox follow, then readers letters.

Photography page next up, winning photo, close up of some ants in a plant, and others.

Dinokeng gets a new bush camp: Njala Bushcamp review on the next page.

Brief articles on Infanta Trailer Manufacturer ‘s deal cut with Black Series, a manufacturer of off road trailers and caravans in USA, and Invader off road trailers follow as well as half page editorial on the Navara local manufacture plans.

Into tests and the first up is Quantum Comfort Deluxe caravan, followed by well, the new Prado 2.8. not a full test though. Amarok 3.0l V6 full test is up next.

Nation Luna 2 page promo follows.

Great 8 page article on the Richtersveld and Ais Ais area, for those planning a trip.

Two campsites are reviewed on KZN, not on the coastline: Queensburgh in south Durban and Bushwillow between Howick and Mooiriver.

For those who have not heard of it, a crazy event called the Bull Run is annually run near Vosburg in the NC. The cars have to be at least 30 years old, and only R20k is allowed for repairs and mods. 5 pages of pics and a very short report. Looks like plenty of fun!

Next up is the Fortuner challenge, whatever that is/was.

Nice campsite review of Oakrest Vinyards near Calitzdorp, for those who fish. Or just want to chill.

4x4 Venue follows: Doringlaagte east of Montagu. A complete venue with something for all.

Another campsite Weltevrede is reviewed, this one just outside Parys on the banks of the Vaal River.

Under “My Wheels” a guys has modified his Toyota Condor with bigger wheels, lift kit, etc. nicely done indeed.

The new GWM P series bakkie is reviewed next. For a 2 litre 4x4 bakkie it really is no bargain basement. Not sure what they have up their sleeve to sell these. They do state it is light years ahead of the old GWM Steed.

A readers story of a family that got stuck in Botswana when the first Lockdown started. What a pleasure! They decided to extend their trip because of it too! One thing that boggled my mind is the writer boasts on how the air conditioner in the Mobi Lodge was wonderful on hot days, and this in camps without electricity. I need one of those a/c’s!

Another campsite for fishermen covered. This also on the Vaal River situated just before Parys. Udolphi. For those that attended the YEF you will have passed the entrance to and on the way back from Tava Lingwe.

Next up a full test on a gravel roader caravan. Stealth Bush Lodge is covered. 6 pages.

An article on restoring your rusted potjie and cast iron pans follows.

Interesting article on camping fridges by the 4x4 Professor. This kills some myths.

Promo up next on Bundu Bathroom items, mini spade to showers including the “crappy” parts in between.

Cooking feature covers Butterflied chicken, Flatbreads with ham, and another 4 yummies.

The adds then start with kiddies stuff (puzzles etc.) at the end.

Last 4 articles:
- Tyre wear vs Tyre age
- Fake news by a camping guru, discussing Covid and closing of campsites.
- A humorous story of some guys journey to and from the Bull Run.
- And the history of a certain make of caravan that was towed by the hitch fitted to the roof of cars.

Other than all the Toyota adds and Toyota articles, not a bad read.

That’s it!

Thanks Henri - nice to see Isolation has improved your productivity.

Richtersveld - every magazine has covered it in the past year, as have many Youtubers...

That P-Series Bakkie from GWM (also called the Poer & Canyon) is HALF the price of the Ranger XLT & Hilux Raider - how come you say it's not a bargain?
Or did I mis-read your intent?

Can you tell us more about the Infanta Black Series US deal..?

Everything worthwhile that starts with a P only ends up costing you more and more money. P is expensive you know.

So my whole answer to Manny's manny questions went awol earlier.

Herewith a shorter version:

P Series (P is for proper) price R544 900
Ford Ranger 2.2 Tdi XL 4x4 R 520 900
Manny's D max 250 X rider 4x4 R534 800
Toy Hi 2.4 GD6 4x4 SR MT (Mud terrain?) R 549 200
Unless Manny has a contact to get it cheaper.......

Colour of the Black Series Off Road Caravans is, Uncle Henry Ford's favourite colour. Mostly with some grey two tone. Most significant feature is a 100 l grey water tank in addition to 100l water tank, other than all the bells and whistles the Americans build into anything.
Two models:
C12 double bed and single bed R 630 000
C15 double bed and 2 single beds R700 000.
Depending on exchange rate.
Oh yes. There are bigger models. but apparently too big for our market. Imagine that!

CAR Magazine March 2021 issue:

A white Maserati on the cover - with the words Hammer Time!

Insight:
The Rally Rad Porsche - worth a look!

Toyota launched a CITY Car - it's pure EV 9.2kW, a 60km/h top speed& a 56km range - Japan only I'm afraid.

Innovators: the 2009 Audi R8 was the first car with all LED lights.
Drive:
New Creta - uglier & Hyundai's cheapie is now R485k!

They take aAudi Q7 45TDi and a Merc GLE400d on adrive - they prefer the Merc?

Feature:
Lovely Feature article on the Suzuki LJ50
360cc 2 cyl petrol
18kW & 36Nm
Basically an SJ pickup

Read It!

Then the TESTS:
A THREE WAY Test of the Hilux RS, the Ranger Thunder & Amarok Canyon.
Why Toyota insist on giving testers the RS (RS stands for Roller Shutter - its that Armadillo thing on the bak that costs R51k) I don't know.
The Hilux loses because it's pricey for what you get, Why don't they just give out the Legend???
Anyhoo - They do the normal cop out & say they are all good.
But!!! The Hilux comes last, then the Amarok & the Ranger wins.
So much for the "'Toyota buy the motoring press'" brigade.

Test of the Subaru Forester - they say it's better than a RAV4 2.5VX but rather buy the Mazda CX-5

That's about it from the Off Road User's point of view.

CAR Magazine April 2021 issue:

A collection of cars on the cover.

Insight:
Audi E-Tron - looks like an EV TT.

Renault 5 EV looks like a modern interpretation of the old Renault 5.

Hilux AT35- no mention of price, probably because it's too expensive.

The Innovators:

The first car with a Monocoque Chassis was the Lancia Lambda in 1922
I found this interesting - didn't realise it was so long ago.

Drive:
Mazda CX-30
Peugeot 2008

Feature:
Top 12 best buys:
Budget Car is the Atos (I'd have gone Suzuki)
Small Car is the Polo
Small Crossover is the T-Cross
Midsize car - the Corolla Quest
Midsize SUV - the Tiguan
Premium Car - BMW 3 series
Premium Midsize SUV - Volvo XC60
Large SUV - Pajero Sport
Luxury Sedan - 7 series (surprised the S class didn't get it)
Luxury SUV - the Defender (purely because it's the only new vehicle in it's class)
Performance Car - Porsche 911
Double Cab - the Ranger (until the new D-Max arrives)

Then the TESTS:
Listen to this name:
Mercedes Benz G400d 4Matic Stronger Than Time 9G-Tronic - it costs R3 million!

VW T-Roc - they say rather buy a Volvo XC40

Suzuki Vitara Brezza GLX - They say it's better than the Mahindra XUV300 & Honda WR-V

Prado 2.8GD-6 VX-L - they say rather buy the DefenderD240S with no optional extras.

Tech Talk:
China has over 330 000 EV charging stations.
South Africa has 137.
But we have BEE.

That's all folks.
