Reading/spotting the lines.

I were watching some Aussie 4x4 videos over the weekend, not only Aussie videos but 4x4 videos in general.
What struck me is the lack of ability to read the best line to obstacles.
In many cases lots of wheel spin & breaking stuff on 4x4`s but the guys keep on going with the wrong line time after time.
The spotters are clueless. Then in some few cases the right line is taken and the obstacle conquered .

On all the trips I have joined with some prominent members here they help you and show you the best line.
A good spotter limits vehicle damage and helps to preserve the 4x4 track.

It seems that this type of professionalism is sort of missing in most 4x4 videos.
Also seems that very few drivers can read a line.
You will never find me without Stroh or a 4x4 :D

Could it be that they are trying to make the videos more “exciting” by having some drama? I always wonder about these things when watching the videos.

I think it makes for more viewership!

Grips I must be honest, I like using a spotter, but I don't watch him too much... contradictory I know.

I have found that I tend to rely too much on a spotter and then never learn the lines...

So I ask my mates to watch and only stop me if I'm about to damage something. From there I rely on them to help me out.

Myself sometimes like the adventures route if I'm in the SJ
As it was built as a toy and makes the wrong more difficult line adventures

But when I'm in the Syncro and do not want unnecessary damage then I avoid damage by Using Spotters

Prime Example was when Grips son Christopher directed me Through the Zig zag part of Road to hell by first gave me the advice that to stay as close to the edge and when he show my now to turn in to the left to Avoid the Rock that Gave 2 fellow members damage

I had the heaviest loaded and longest vehicle

And without the Spotter I would not have gone so close to the Edge and could have damaged the whole left side of my bus



But spotters do not always understand each vehicle capabilities
And power at certain obstacles

... can be difficult, to say the least , if you in a tight situation and you suddenly faced by too many spotters and advisors, each with their own view of how things should be done ...

Nominate one person to show you way thru the woods and get rest to pipe down in background.

You always ONLY HAVE ONE Spotter.
If there is more than one giving advice those are Sticker Spotters, not Spotters.
Know the difference. :D

There's a saying "Pride comes before a fall".
I dunno how many times I've seen some chop wave away advice & then proceed to damage his vehicle.
It gives me great joy...

Had a guy wave away advice & tell the guys to stand back, he the klapped it & smacked the rear right of his bak.
Afterwards I smugly asked him if he should not have rather listened - he replied "Ag the, this is fokkol, I knew it was going to happen".
I avoided the tossbox for the rest of the day...
