GTG Thread Guidelines

#1

Post by Mad Manny »

Here are Guidelines should you wish to arrange a 4x4 outing on this Forum.
I have found this format highly successful over the 60 odd GTG's I have arranged over the past 8 years....

Post #1 should contain ALL the relevant info:
What, When, Where, Who, How Much, Time etc. & any other relevant stuff.

Here is a good example:

http://www.4x4ag.co.za/forum/viewtopic. ... p=704#p704

Next, as soon as you launch the Thread, you (The Originator or OP), must then immediatelyREPLY to your own Thread to book Post #2 for the List of Attendees.
Do it immediately before some chop replies with 'Tentative'... or something equally pointless.

I usually just write [Booked for attendees list] then update as people RSVP.

Tips:

* Check that the Thread title is 100% correct, because you cannot edit a Thread title later

* Avoid putting a date or time in the title - if it changes you are screwed.

* Never say things like "Next Week" or "Spring GTG" in the title as that may date.

* Never add people who say 'Tentative' or 'will pay later' to the attendees list.

* Remember, about 30% of people who say they are attending can be expected to drop out on the day.
HOWEVER, this drops to less than 10% if you collect a payment up front.
You'll almost never get a 100% turnout.

Where Participants pay into the 4x4AG Club account:
1. Provide the bank details
2. Provide a reference so it's easy to pick up the payment
3. ALWAYS include a'Pay by [date] ' cut-off.
4. Stipulate a 'No refunds after' date & time.
