Chasing Snow

Evening Mike Nel and everyone else. I have finally launched my own thread (according to Mike Nel).
This year I want to introduce my girls to snow.
The plan is to wait for the “snow reports” and then hit the road over a weekend to Lesotho (I assume it snows there more than in SA[emoji28]). We have all our passports for the family so we’re good in that department.
So my question to those that know.... where should I aim the Pajero when we see there is snow? Obvious choices are Afriski or Sani, so budget permitting, we are looking to head toward Lesotho either to the west (Ficksburg) or East (Sani). Where should we stay and what would you recommend we take with for the conditions.
PS - I have BFG tyres on, so I won’t need snow chains due to the BFG’s superior all terrain ability [emoji6]

Wait till those Capies say:
“ ... theres snow on the Matroosberg ! ...”
... confirm theres a N bound cold front ...
phone Tiffendal the place ...
( not Craigs idea of a girl ‘Tiffany Dale’ ...)
They know mostest exactly time and place of snow ( will be about 3 days after Matroos ...)
and they rely on only 2 wks a year of skiing !...
take yourgirls
write up 44AG trip report ...
etc

Craig, I omitted some pertinent info. I want to be able to leave Joburg on a Saturday morning and return on Sunday, so Tiffendel will be a bit of a schlep.

We do this most years looking for ice to climb in lesotho.....
Place to watch the best forecasts for snow will be......

We leave JHB after work on Friday and travel through to Caledonspoort.
There is a place right at the border post called Camelroc
https://www.camelroc.co.za/
Border opens early and from there you are at Afriski in a few hours.

There is normally snow on the Drakensberg which makes it much easier to do on a weekend and you don't need passports.
I was very keen on doing this last year, but it always seemed to snow early in the week and was gone by the weekend. I hope this year I may be luckier.

Kurt, Afri-Ski is a tourist brothel when it snows. but there are a few small places like oxbow lodge where you can view it from. We are also planning a trip like to see the snow, Caledon-Afri-Ski - Letseng - Katse - Butha Butha -Behthlehem.
Kids are going with so will keep you posted

Kurt, scrape that white ice from inside your fridge and make snow balls to toss at each other. Thus saving beer monies.
More Gold from Craig!
