Fyn brag - not quite

#1

Post by rudi.hinze »

Thought I'd brag with one of a set which was delivered to me today. Should break most of my axle shafts with them if I'm lucky -

Thanks. It was fun eating, will try that again in a few weeks' time :).

On a lighter note, the look on a client's face when we put these down next to his new Cruiser's "big" 285's was priceless.

Hahaha. Yep, GM D60 front and 14bolt rear. Both have Detroit lockers. There are chromoly shafts in a box also for an HD GM D44 front if the 60 has another use. SM465 tranny and NP205 transfer. There is also a range box from a 203 if I want to go double low. And an SM420 if the first gear is too fast.

Body is probably worth less than 1 tyre and is at least 5 colours, with some rust holes (I have some parts lying around and decided to build something). I might even leave it like that.

Sad part is, the Cruiser getting them is probably 6 months away from being able to drive (no steering, no brakes, no prop shafts and a serious lack of time to spend on it).

Het self ook vandag my bande bestel. Ook 40”
Gaan ook axle swop doen in n kar wat byna niks werd is. Portals aste, gear ratios wat pas by bande.
Lockers voor en agter.

Gearbox sal seker volg week in gaan om bellhousings te cut, swop, en weld.

Het net n ander conversion wat my bietjie ophou, en wil nie nog n kar uit aksie haal voor een van ander nie klaar is.

I have taken very few photos so far but did do these poser shots this afternoon. Excuse the mess (and the Jerry which acts as return tank presently, it is stored far back in the workshop, between my stash of crap -

Hahaha, given the size it was a good idea. Mockup suspension and axle width allows full flex and turning circle.

Lekker man. Ja, dis een ding om onder jou nuwe JK/JL/Cruiser/Patrol duur bande en suspensie te sit, freak mense lekker uit as jy dit onder 'scrap' sit
