You omitted the Ssangyong Actyon. That’s had coils since circa 2007. Waaaaay ahead of the curve.
The Ssangyong is also disqualified by the fixed load box
Our Mad Leader has informed me privately that my statement above is incorrect. My humble apologies.

In my defense I have to mention that I usually look away when confronted by FUGLY, so I have never really had a close look at an Actyon.....

I agree with you Thys.

I didn’t even think of the Actyon. Did they manage to sell more than 10 worldwide?

In the mainstream market, in South Africa, the first to do it was Nissan, the new Navara has Coils, not leafs.
Biut it was a stuff up & gives no advantages & all the disadvantages.

However, more manufacturers will go this route in future.

I think Pick up trucks with solid diff`s and coils are fine. Problem is independent rear like on the new Navara. Your ride height reduces on a loaded vehicle.

Thys as for the Chevy`s the F100 with its I-beam front suspensions became the Kalahari legends.

Ek is glad nie n fan van die nuwe navara nie, maar dit het nie independent suspension nie. Starre as, coil springs.
En dit is n meneer van n as, heelwat stewiger as vorige navaras, dink patrol starre as.

Thanks Reenen you are indeed right. Several publications around the launch of the Navara stated independent rear suspension. Never had a look at the setup. I see it is a five link setup with a solid axle.

One of the many articles stating independent rear suspension. Seems some journalists is confused by the naming of suspensions.

That Ford I-beam front end was great! Basically a long arm IFS - albeit in 2wd form only.

Many Journalists are simply clueless. Authors of bad fiction is a more accurate title.

The Journalists association should fine them for factually inaccurate statements. Bloody clueless.
