Mommy dearest is retiring in May.
In your opinion, what type of vehicle can she buy that would last her forever? Budget is under R225K brand new if possible.
She currently drives a Ford Fiesta 1.0 Ecoboost. 3years old.

Why does it have to last forever?
Can't it just last as long as Mommy Dearest is able to drive?

There’s a lot you could buy, but it should be a normally aspirated petrol engine.

Honda or Toyota platkar. Even if it is a newish car to fit the budget. A Corolla or Balade will go for years. Do you know why Honda and Toyota driver are all old? Because their cars were bought new when they were young.

Agree.
Yaris 1500
Corolla Quest Auto.
There is a new Quest based on the outgoing Corolla coming out soon.

Auto is also a good choice as older people tend to forget to change gears or cant hear the engine revving

I reckon the Mazda2 & Honda Jazz are safer, better built, lighter on fuel & are better all round packages.
They also have some luxury.
Plus they are up to date.
I’d also stay away from anything with 2 or 3 cyl.

My mom has a Honda Jazz. Her only complaint is there is no where to place your bag and search for keys as the surfaces all slope.

You should post on that other Forum where people giving advice ignore the OP's parameters.
No Mazda2 falls in the OP's price range.
ONE Honda Jazz does fall with the price range, but it's basic & only has 1.2 motor & is not Auto.
But if the OP can up his amount to R301k then the 1.5 AutoJazz is definitely worth looking at.
The Amaze/Brio is basic, but a good honest vehicle... but a downgrade from the Fiesta she currently has.

He said brand new if possible. I suggested almost new cars that will go the distance.
