He should do well. It’s incredible how good track racers usually adapt.

Would love to see him taking part in a Dakar and especially in a SA Toyota.

I can name quite a few that turned them down, when they did actually compete in F1.

A good driver is a good driver, doesn't matter what car he is driving.
Sarel van der Merwe for example.
John Surtees was 4 times 500cc bike champ and once F1 champ.
Suzuki Jimny - Hobbit Car

Looks like they are running their tests at Ghoera Pan. Farm of well know farmer Piet Kotze. Spirit of Africa winner and privateer Rally driver. He was the guy that rolled the Amarok. After his Spirit win VW gave him an Amarok to drive for one year. That Amarok was moertoe after a year on Kalahari dirt roads.
If some of you ever visit the Northern Cape pop in at Ghoera Pan. I rated it the second best dune trip in NC. Few real challenging dunes. There is one dune that very few has conquered. You go up its slipface.

So back to Alonso keep and eye on him. He will end in the top 10 of next years Dakar.

From my experience and talking to proper racers rally requires more reaction time and they are looking further down the road than track racers. Now that he is not doing as well in F1 rally might be a good alternative.
