Value of a Car review?

If you go vehicle shopping. How much influence does a car review have on your choice?

If I had to choose, then this review would be pretty accurate. I would definately take the Pajero Sport

This review means little to Saffa's because the trim levels & pricing is different in SheepShaggerLand.
But lets assume it was a review made in SA... in fact my reply applies to all reviews - even Car Magazine's tests & 20 000km long term tests.
I would read the review - it's through reviews that I noticed the MU-X had no DL & a small tank (Which the sheepShagger in the clip you posted didn't mention - well, I don't think he did), however...
Once I'd read the review I'd ask myself a few questions:
1. Would the reviewer spend hois own money on it. Really?
2. What would I wished I'd bought in 280 000km's time?
3. What is the Brand (the Manufacturer) like?
So whilst I agree with the review in your clip, based on the info he had, here I would buy the MU-X because:
1. The Toyota looks kak & is too pricey.
2. I don't trust Ford.
3. I would not invest R500k of my money in Mitsubishi SA, even though they are in a Triad with the Renault Nissan.
4. The MU-X will be far, far, far more reliable than the others... especially the Ford.

I can’t failt you for your reasoning
But. People don’t buy vehicle with longevity in mind anymore.
So
I would buy the Pajero Sport. It looks to be a great package
The Ford looks and seems the most comfortable apart from the 3rd row. But that doesn’t bother me because I will never sit there
The MU-X. I like it, but DL should be standard.
The Rexton. Well.......
The Tuna. No thanks. I will not be part of “that” clan

Manny so are you saying you are willing to be uncomfortable for 280 000km just so you can drive another 20 000 before you swop.

The Fortuner drive confirms my assessment of the drive. Too choppy and unsettled compared to the competition.
I am a MU-X fan but I would be hard pressed to not buy the Pajero Sport, so the Mitsu wins for me.

During the course of a month I drive a KB5 D-Teq, a KB6 250 & a Fortuner amongst others.
The KB6 is buy far the most comfortable.
I'm sure all the SUV's reviewed are even more comfortable... So I'll be fine.

The MU-x is a good buy, especially with the new auto box, the old box I drove last year was a let down, but the new 6 speed changes things, at least the DL is now an option.
Me? I'd buy the Pajero Sport, it has the best auto box, the smoothest ride and the most comfy seats

They should do car reviews at 200k km. 100k km spend on NC dirt roads.
Mike to be honest I do not value reviews very high.
I form my opinion from my own test drives and owner confessions.

Manny Yes I have to admit the Evoque and Wildtrack has made me soft.
I was very happy with my Hilux even though I have had a Prado and a host of German cars.
The difference getting out of the Hilux into either of the other two is just convincing me.
Yes I don't think the Ford or the Evoque will last 300 000 km but now I am soft enough to enjoy the 200 000 odd comfortable kms.
