The Peugeot 3008 DKR 2018 factory cars will be entered by privateers in the January 2019 Dakar. Loeb will be driving one.

They’ve got a good chance of taking the title again.

Because it's practically the same vehicle apart from the bits that were changed...

I see that the badges are still the same. :D

So what is the story behind the story?
I understood there were rule changes which is why Peugeot withdrew in the first place?

Other than the rule changes, it will only run in Peru as the other countries have pulled out. The organisers are apparently talking to African countries to bring it back to the area it began in. I'll see if I can find the news feed I saw it on.

Surely they can run the event in Nam, SA and Botswana without it being too “dangerous”. Would be awesome to be able to go and watch, and we can all stay at Grips’ pad [emoji6]

The host countries have to pay huge amounts to have the event. Similar to F1 or Moto GP the costs will be too high with very little chance of our political masters being able to gain personally.

Agreed. But we have too much crime, plus the Tofu Taliban wouldn’t like it.

That’s the car they are promoting via their entry.

Yip. Same as any vehicle in that category.

From a SA perspective Dakar is quite exciting this year! More than 20 SA built cars will compete this year, most of them built by Red Line racing!

Add to this about 10 Southern African bikers and we might be in for some entertainment!

Look out for rookie Ross Branch, very talented young man! (He is from Botswana and might be riding under the British flag)

Rallye in general is under pressure at the moment! Soon we will see electric cars enter the field and everyone will go home!
