Since the demise of the Defender & the G-Wagon that’s now gone soft, we are down to five real 4x4’s that have a solid front axles & proper low range. It’ll increase to six when the Wrangler bakkie gets launched.

I wonder which will be axed next?

Another thought, I wonder if there is a market developing for SFA conversions to your favourite mall crawler.

Why bother? Just buy one of the vehicles listed.

You really think those five vehicles tick all the boxes for everybody. Not everybody wants a heavy duty Patrol or LC "bakkie". What if you want a DC, or the features of a FJ, but you want a proper 4x4 drivetrain.

But thats me going off topic I suppose. Fact is, SFA's are on the brink of extinction. In just a few years time we will have no choice of SFA vehicles, unless we build them.

Then the Jeep or the LC Wagon would work.

Agree with you Reenen, but I am not proposing the vehicle owner buying a vehicle and taking it home to go do a SAS in his driveway. I'm refering to a "coach builder" engineering type company, building these things to order, according to code, like they do in Australia where things get engineering certified.

There’s a few more SFAs available in the rest of the world, but not in SA.
