Those vehicles arent as quick off the mark as the owners think they are
As for the 4.0, maybe I read it wrong in passing, maybe it was a 2.4 with a missing 2, maybe its a petrol bakkie, maybe they are broken, maybe a 2009 5.3lt V8 is just quicker.

Few things can keep up with a proper v8.

Good friend of mine owns a v6 Amarok. We have lined the Amarok and PlatRangertjie on a few occasions. Traction and launch control on the Amarok help it to stay ahead for the first couple of meters then it is game over for the Amarok

Do I need to teach your friend how to drive?

8.0 sec flat this morning - achieved in Drive, with A/C on and some wheelspin during take-off due to wet paint lines at the traffic light:
Not bad for 19 yo Grannywagon with close to 400k km on the clock, IMHO
I can probably cut the 0.18 seconds to match the time that CARMAG achieved with the v6 Panzerwagen by turning off the A/C and shifting manually.
This was proven on our test strip when, stopping the clock at 7,82 seconds, the Volkswagen became our fastest-ever double-cab to hit 100 km/h. We achieved this in manual mode by flicking the upshift paddle behind the steering wheel as the rev counter nudged the 4 000 r/min mark. This proved faster than sport mode could muster, allowing the engine to rev closer to the redline.
