Don’t write it off please
It's a definite write off. If you want it, you would need to buy it on auction, but believe me there is not much that is worth having.

I was saying you mustn’t write off the new Jimny, you seem to have a habit of writing cars off 🤣

I have one of the 67, 2008 model G4's made. Only 140 odd were produced (2005 and 2008)

Sentimental perhaps. If I decide to sell it I will get a D5 or Velar, second hand (more likely the Velar to kit out), If it gets written off, same thing.

The one thing I found interesting, is you can get a Velar kitted in G4 spec. Now to find someone who ordered one

I will soon be parting ways with El Jimbo. (2010 Suzuki Jimny)

Have had it for five and a half years. There is a large possibility to shed a tear. It is much worse when you leave it at a dealer and drive away in something new. Ultimate backstab for a vehicle that has done it's best to carry you and your luggage where ever you pointed it. Charged your batteries to keep your beers ice cold. Ran air con at full blast on a scorcher of a day to keep you cool. All of this at the same time, and never let you down.

It has been amazing and took us all over.

Here is a short itinerary of what has been covered in El Jimbo:

Marakele
Kgalagadi (Including Bitterpan and Gharagab)
Addo
Mupangubwe (and all the little “offroad” paths available there)
Sani Pass
Lesotho (Katse dam etc)
Rhodes and a few of the Eastern Cape passes
Khutse (Bots)
Stillbaai 2 trips
Went hunting: Murreysburg, Kroonstad and Thabazimbi
Mukuya (Never again)
Pongola – Amsterdam – Baberton trip. (Had a lot of fun on an unscheduled plantation roads deviation in heavy rains)
Several short weekend trips
Recovered a Ford ranger (Well…. a 4x2)

So it comes down to memories for me.

Was equally sad when I sold my first car. A golfie. Blurred memories of student days!

still living in squalor in a tin shack on a remote mountainside !

A quick word of advice - if you are planning on increasing the size of your household you are going to need to get the contents of your trousers out of them and into other places! :D

My condolences about your continued living arrangements! Since your disappearance from ... some other unrelated forum... I always thought you would take up residency permanently in Triggerfish. On one episode of "Dors" they visited Triggerfish. I watched it a few times, scrutinizing the the background for the sight of an aging hippy in a onsesie, brushing his teeth with a strong ale wile ogling the local talent.... but to no avail.

Thank you for the advice. I shall apply same whenever invited and/or allowed to do so! I am applying strong wine to the the party involved to increase the said invitations and/or allowances.

Ah, Trigerfish ! we did indeed use it as our lounge and dining room for a few weeks ! Damn fine accommodations, I must say! It was nearly blown over by a little explosion yesterday (along with the apocalypse workshops! )

I hope the applications go well, and frequently! The GV is a bloody nice little car too!

I pretty much liked my SJ410, sorry to see it go at the time.

When I got my Daihatsu Rocky, it was as if a superbug bit....

Then I got another cheap, busy getting it going...

....already searching for another

Sentimental won't even explain the curse...
