So I have recently bought a Disco 1 V8.

What would be the upgrades to go for?

It has no mods apart from slightly larger tyres.

I've recently bought a Disco 2 Td5 Auto. It already had a good aftermarket front bumper and an additional fuel tank fitted. If you are planning on doing long distance travels with your Disco, the additional fuel tank works very well. With 130l total fuel capacity it gives decent range. I have fitted a front bash plate that I got from Stone Accessories that I fitted before the Mountain Passes trip. It has a few marks on it so it has done its job.
After damaging the standard rear bumper twice I have now ordered an aftermarket bumper from F & F Customs in Pietermaritzburg. http://ffinnovativecustoms.simpl.com/
The other mods I have done is fitting a snorkel from 4X4 Direct, removing the 2 aft fold-down seat and fitted side panels that have stowage's in the hollows. Each stowage takes more volume of stuff than an ammo box.
Every time I take the Disco out for an outing I'm amazed at how capable it is while making the drive seem easy and comfortable.

From the photos I see that it has a short snorkel type air intake on the front of the left fender.

You should start by sucking a lemon.
It will help you to get that stupid grin off your face.

Nice Oppies !! Good 4x4 with a lot of options ! You should excuse kurt . He only knows about soft roaders ! The Disco is already very capable as it is ! Take your time , do little bit at a time ! All depends on the funds you have available !!
Lift , locker , Bigger tyres , front and rear after market bumpers.

Only draw back is fuel consumption . But it is a awesome 4x4

Picked up a set of 75mm coil spacers yesterday.

Now need them cut and welded to 50mm so it can be fitted.

Starting slowly

Thats awesome, congrats Oppies. I looked long and hard for one before I bought my XJ. Every time I found a decent one that I was interested in, it was sold within 48hrs it went on sale.

Fix what needs to be fixed first then mod as funds allow.

I think you starting off right, you already have larger wheels, now the lift.

Nice Oopies

Don't mod until you have driven it a while. My personal view is protection before all the cool looking mod's.

With my D3 G4, the thing that gets the most punishment/used the most, are my bash plates, and not the standard LR ones that are factory fitted, the 10mm thick Mantec bash plate fitted to the G4's.
